What Made Our Day Unique
Besides the treasure hunt proposal that had me running around Birmingham for a morning? Probably the amount of DIY that went into our day! I wanted our wedding to be unique and personal to us as a couple, so I chose, where I could, to DIY. I made our invitations, vows books, lollipop favours, place cards, my headpiece and all our signage. Our whole day just blew me away - the venue, the food, my dress, the flowers, our amazing guests - but I think my favourite moment was the ceremony. We chose to write our own promises which just made the whole ceremony feel so intimate and personal, and is something I'll never ever forget. The vows books I made are now sitting on the bookshelf in our living room for us to cherish and re-read for years to come. The speeches were also amazing, having me in stitches one minute and drying my eyes the next!
Macrame Wall Hanging
The gorgeous macrame wall hanging you see taking centre stage on the fireplace as Hannah and Tom say their vows was woven by Hannah herself. All her blood, sweat and tears, brought out their personal style during their nuptials and framed this special moment beautifully. Maryanne Weddings captures the DIY beauty and their emotion during the service perfectly, and I for one can feel the love. It nearly didn't make it to the venue in one piece! But we're glad it did. Also lucky for Hannah & Tom, Tom's mum and sister run a wedding cake business, so choosing their cake designer was easy! Three royal-iced masterpieces with six flavours, beautiful gold leaf accents and dazzling taper candles almost too good to eat.Wedding Suppliers And Styling
We knew pretty quickly that we wanted a barn venue after my brother's wedding at Cripps Shustoke barn in 2016. So, as soon as we got engaged, we took a trip to the Cotswolds to look at Cripps barn and we just fell in love with it. We didn't have many suppliers, given all the DIY, but we found our amazing photographer on RMW The List. I loved Mary-Anne's wistful, bohemian style and when I started talking to her about our day I loved her personality even more! I sourced most of our decor online and from shops like Homesense, keeping to a relaxed, bohemian vibe. Tom's favourite colour is white and mine is green, so a neutral colour palette was an easy and natural choice. I have a little obsession with rose gold too - Tom had my engagement ring specially designed in it - so I also wanted to bring a little celestial-inspired rose gold sparkle into the day as an accent feature to the otherwise neutral theme.
