Inspiration

I am so in awe of all the personal details and dedication that has gone into this same-sex barn wedding. Firstly, hours and hours were spent handcrafting the macrame wedding backdrop and favours, and secondly for over 40 years one of the brides Grandma's collected wishbones for wedding guests to break after the wedding speeches. There are many more incredible moments and touches to take inspiration from too, but you'll just have to read on to find them out. Enjoy!

What Made Our Day Unique

We wanted to make the day and process as handmade and bohemian as possible whilst on a budget, so made it a complete family affair. The macramé pieces and terrarium table centrepieces were all handmade by my mother. My flower crown was a joint effort by myself, my wife and my mum. I work as a plumber so we all thought that it would be only too fitting for me to make the archway frame from copper pipe. We were gifted wishbones from my grandma that she’d been saving for over 40 years and handed these out at the end of my speech for every pair to break and wish us well.

Macrame Wedding Backdrop

Can we all just take a moment to appreciate the incredible macrame wedding backdrop at this boho wedding? Handmade by the brides mum over several months and worth every second of sewing and crafting. It beautifully frames the same-sex wedding ceremony and the top table, and is adorned with the most incredible bright flowers by Sorcha Herbert Flowers. Continuing with the Macrame theme, guests were also treated to their own mini macrame wedding favours. Such a lovely personal touch.

Inspiration & Styling

As the wedding had a boho theme, the dress code was completely relaxed. The inspiration for choosing boho was mainly down to how fluid we could be with decorations and we also loved the bright colours that could be incorporated. We knew that the majority of decorations would be hand made so this tied into the theme too! A lot of our guests commented on how relaxed and happy the vibe was throughout the day and we hope you can see from the photos how full of love the day was.

We love Macrame so much we've dedicated a whole Pinterest board to the wonderful wedding trend. There are backdrops, table plans and even bouquet wraps.
