What Made Our Day Unique
Living in Switzerland and having families and friends in the UK and Germany we searched high and low for the right venue throughout Europe. We wanted to get married on a weekend that fell close to midsummer’s eve and enjoys three days with our loved ones. We searched for a special place that was surrounded by beautiful nature, that would have great weather, where we could dance under the stars, that had a relaxed vibe and that didn’t mind if we partied all night. We just knew it was right when we stepped through the gates of Domaine Les Roullets in Provence. Surrounded by vines and birdsong the grounds are breath-taking and their layout enabled us to have separate areas for the ceremony, the cocktails post-ceremony and the wedding breakfast. Provence in June cannot be more perfect. Lavender is blooming, everything is in abundance. We were married underneath a huge 700-year-old oak tree – a truly magical different kind of church - but the right one for us. Guests travelled from across Europe and as far as Australia to make it which made it so special.
Marchesa Wedding Dress
If you haven't already pinned real bride Alison's jawdropping Marchesa wedding dress within an inch of its life. It's ok we'll stop and wait for you. Aren't you just in love with the beaded illusion neck detail?! I know I am. She completed her look with a sleek bun and gorgeous Emmy London peep toe shoes. And by her side were her best girls in complementing sequin Adrianna Papell dresses in gorgeous pastel shades.Inspiration & Styling
The vibe of the day was relaxed and joyful. Friends could enjoy the beautiful surroundings, mingle and let their hair down. We chose not to invite children so the adults could really enjoy the party. We kept it playful by having an inflatable flamingo, swan and peacock in the pool (they did not all survive the weekend after the “peacock rodeo” at Sunday’s pool party..). Styling was elegant, classic and a touch bohemian with the feel of Midsummer Night’s Dream. I wanted the styling of the wedding to mirror my Marchesa dress in its simplicity but its attention to exquisite detail. The Nomad tent gave a sense of theatre and glamour. Tables had long trailing white and green blooms, vintage green glassware, elegant antique candelabras, long grey taper candles from Ester & Erik and long-stemmed tea lights with twinkling candles. Menus were also printed in grey and place names doubled up as favours with tiny brass photo frames with names written in calligraphy. Christian’s bespoke suit was beautiful sky blue linen and fitted in with the relaxed Provencal vibe.
Alison and Christian travelled to Provence and made an appointment to meet with their wedding planners having realised that without assistance they would have issues with language barriers and sourcing local suppliers. They also wanted help with setting up and styling their wedding on the day so they could just relax and savour every moment.
