Inspiration

Maryke and John's stylish wedding is proof that DIY absolutely doesn't have to look home spun. With a clear pink theme running through the decor, copper piping details and giant balloons making a statement, the whole day looks gorgeous from start to finish. Images come from Nataly J Photography whose soft, romantic style I love and it lends itself perfectly to this lovely pair's feel-good wedding. Look out for the beautiful Vintage VW Beetle as well, it's such a cute car to transport you on your big day.

The Bride & Groom

Maryke the Bride: Dress from wed2be with brides own customizations added, and accessories from ASOS. A really good solution for a last minute dress as my original dress supplier failed to deliver aka did a runner with my money! John wore a suit from Next, with accessories from House of Fraser.

The Venues & Styling

We chose the Elmgrove Centre for the ceremony and Bristol Harbour Hotel for the reception. We had a pink, white and gold colour scheme with greenery, using lots of jars with flowers, vines and balloons. The bouquets were from Roots Floral Designs and reception flowers from Clifton Flowers. The flowers at the church were just from Tescos!

The Wedding Party

The bridesmaids wore light pink dresses from ASOS, and the groomsmen wore light pink ties and matching socks to compliment this, as well as suits from Next to match the grooms.

The Ceremony

A Christian ceremony that brought together people from many different backgrounds. Special moment for the bride making fun of the groom as he messed up his vows ;) Then off to Clifton and the suspension bridge to take photos.

The Entertainment

The band Salute The Sun were amazing, and a friend of the father of the bride DJ’d once the band had finished. The band is a big up coming band in Bristol that many of the guests were big fans of, thankfully we knew the drummer from church! Our first dance was an acoustic cover of Elvis’ Burning Love.

The Cake

Lisa’s Lovely Cakery made our cake. She created a super yummy white chocolate and raspberry semi naked cake surrounded by eucalyptus.

Advice

Ask for help! Family and friends love feeling involved and there’s so much to do anyway, so get people involved and bond over wedding stuff, whilst saving some money too! Shout out to the groom for doing most of the planning so that I wouldn’t have to get stressed and could focus on my degree, even though he was doing one too!
