Inspiration

Having postponed their wedding from May 2020, Emma and James had an intimate micro wedding post lockdown at Micklefield Hall. There were only 10 guests during the ceremony and they held a small outdoor reception in the gardens afterwards. The celebrations included an impromptu first dance, sentimental speeches and cake cutting. The love and smiles are real, and the joy infectious. You can't help but be happy for this wonderful duo.

What Made Out Day Unique

After having to postpone our wedding from this June to Spring 2021, we decided to still have a small civil ceremony with just 10 guests. The day was perfect, and we are so glad that we decided to go ahead with our ‘micro wedding’. It is just so lovely to be able to call ourselves husband and wife, after such an uncertain time for everyone. Micklefield Hall and our suppliers were absolutely amazing too – we’ve been incredibly lucky!

Micklefield Hall

Deciding to save her main bridal gown for the wedding celebration next year, Emma turned to the internet to find a dress for their intimate wedding ceremony at Mickelfield Hall. She chose a beautiful lace tea dress with a halterneck and looked perfect as she walked down the aisle with their singer/guitarist Thom, doing an amazing performance of Fleetwood Mac’s Everywhere. Both Micklefield and their photographer Step went above and beyond on the day to ensure everything ran smoothly and to the current government guidelines, meaning all they had to do was relax and enjoy finally being married!

Inspiration & Styling

The vibe was extremely relaxed – which was just what we wanted! As you can imagine it was a little bit challenging planning this type of a wedding given the circumstances, but it all worked out perfectly in the end. We hadn't planned to have a first dance but it ended up being one of our favourite moments. The speeches were also very special too.

Advice

It is understandable that a micro wedding may not be for everyone, but we would absolutely encourage people to consider it. The best part was seeing how happy our guests were on the day – everyone was just so thrilled to be there! And it is nice to know we still have a party to look forward to next year with our guests who couldn’t be there. The best advice would be to keep calm! You will find that your venue and suppliers just want to help make the day as special as possible for you both and will work with you to achieve that.
