Inspiration

Entering through the floral moon gate arch and following the festoon lit path, guests were met with a marquee decorated with bright hanging flower installations and rustic wooden wedding signs. Choosing to have the wedding at the bride's family home meant months of preparation and watering the garden to get it looking as lovely as it did on the day! Formal and heavily curated was not this couple's style, so choosing a much more low key celebration and mixing up traditions suited them much better, allowing everyone to relax and thoroughly enjoy themselves. Complementing the wildflower theme, were the blue bridal party who wore blue Rewritten bridesmaid dresses - who we love and are one of our handpicked suppliers - and of course, the bride who opted for a lace sleeved dress from Mademoiselle de Guise. Perfection!

What Made Our Day Uniqiue

Primarily we feel the setting made our day unique as it was at home rather than a venue. We also planned the entire wedding ourselves, from sourcing all our own suppliers to finding ways to create the little touches that would bring our vision to life. We also played with the traditional format of the day where we could to create a more relaxed vibe - for example, all speeches took place at the end of the drinks reception in the orchard to allow the father of the bride, groom and best man to relax and enjoy the rest of the day sooner.

Moon Gate Arch

Using their wildflower orchard as the venue for the celebration, the couple felt they should style the day to complement this, guests were first wowed when they arrived and greeted with a floral moon gate arch and as they carried on into the marquee, at every turn there were more flowers! Floral installations hung above the dining area and bright blooms and Dahlias littered the tables. The four-tiered semi-naked wedding cake was adorned with floral clusters and even the wooden bar looked beautifully decorated!

Inspiration & Styling

We wanted a relaxed country-chic home wedding that would lend itself to the setting - the bride's family home in Gloucestershire. We used the wildflower orchard as the reception venue and felt all styling needed to complement this - particularly the flowers and styling of the marquee. We also wanted the vibe of our wedding to represent us as a couple - a heavily curated formal event with white tablecloths would not have been our style! The inspiration came from all over - elements of other weddings we had attended, Instagram, Pinterest, anywhere!

We love a moon gate, there is something about them that is quite magical, and they are definitely a good prop for a cheeky photo op! If you have a soft spot for a moon gate too, then we know you will enjoy this wedding at Calke Abbey in Derbyshire (check out the chairs too, love!).
