Inspiration

There isn't one part of this gorgeous industrial wedding at The West Mill in Derby that you're not going to love. The venue itself is jaw dropping with its exposed bricks, hanging pendants, and large open space. Add the styling talents of The Vintage House That Could with lots of lovely travel and adventure decor and props, and your pinning fingers are going to be twitching. But is it any wonder the theme is so fabulous when our two stunning brides Nadia & Alex are both textile and furniture designers. There are lots of more copper details to feast your eyes ups, including the bridesmaid ASOS dresses and coverups, plus an immense greenery installation by Vanda Vase floral design, framing those adorable vows. Capturing all the love is Rosie, who made sure every emotion is felt and treasured in her stills. And if you've fallen for this industrial venue as much as us, take a look at these lovely real weddings too.

Dress

Nadia & Alex the Brides: Both of our dresses were from Wed2B and we went separately with our Mum’s. It was a wonderful experience for both of us, we were well looked after! Alex’s veil was also from there and she had a beautiful floral arrangement in her hair from The Vanda Vase. I had a veil from Rainbow Club which was stunning. We both kept all aspects of our wedding attire secret apart from the shoes! Alex had wanted a particular pair of Kurt Geiger shoes for a while so our family bought them for her birthday as a surprise and I had a lovely pair of rose gold heels from ASOS.

The Venue

The West Mill! What an amazing place. We knew it was the venue for us after for visiting for the first time. It is so beautiful and unique. The perfect wedding venue, whatever the weather. The staff are so attentive, friendly and organised and the food is incredible. I’d recommend it to anyone.

Colour Scheme/Décor

Adventure and metallics! We love to explore and getting married really is starting an adventure so we wanted to base the theme around that. We also love anything metallic so had lots of gold, sparkles and sequins in the décor. Our styling was done by the amazing Katie at The Vintage House That Could who added special little touches and helped bring our Pinterest dreams to life.

Flowers/Florist

Our stunning flowers were from the Vanda Vase florist in Stapleford. Sami has such creative flair, it’s inspiring. We wanted really deep and rich colours throughout; she also created a beautiful back drop with eucalyptus leaves and flashes of red. We would really recommend her.

The Wedding Party Fashion

We had seven bridesmaids between us, all wearing ASOS dresses and Joanie Clothing gold shrugs. We loved the colour of the bridesmaid dresses and thought they went really well with the venue and theme. We also had six boys to dress! We both had our brothers as our best men, our best friends as our ushers and our Dads. They worse suits, ties and pocket squares all from Slaters and we were so pleased with the service at the Nottingham store.

Ceremony

Our ceremony felt amazing. We had three readings from our Sister-in-Law Sairer, our Usher Lee and my Mum Irena, they were all perfect! The end of our ceremony was exciting as we hadn’t told anyone what our surname was going to be and there were lots of bets with our guests! So when our name was announced there was a brilliant noise throughout the room of surprise from our guests!

Entertainment

Our families love music and so do we, that’s why we wanted a band in the drinks reception but we had no idea how much joy they would bring to our day! The Bowker's were superb. Everyone loved them. In the evening we had David from Silver DJs who was absolutely brilliant. He played all of the songs we asked, helped our niece with a sound check before she sang a song and was just generally a really nice guy. We were so happy with both of our music choices!

Food & Drink

Our cake was created by our Grannie. She is so talented when making iced flowers – they looked real! Such a special treat to have her make it for us. We had prosecco and Peroni for the drinks reception! Simple but very effective it seemed. Then for the wedding breakfast we had stuffed mushroom to start, chicken and lots of hearty vegetables for the main then a delicious apple tart tartin and custard for pudding. It was all amazing!

Photographer

From our very first meeting with Rosie, we knew we wanted her to be our photographer. She was lovely, easy going and very talented. The photos we have of our wedding are stunning and the whole process with Rosie has been a breeze! We would recommend her to anyone, she’s brilliant.

Videographer

We chose to use Jason Lynch after seeing his videos on Vimeo. They were exactly the sort of thing we were after and you could see how talented he was through them. Our short highlights film is incredible and the long film is just as good.

Advice

• Choose The West Mill as your venue, whatever the weather it is just the most special place! • Ask friends and family for help. • Don’t get too worried or stressed about it. It will all go to plan on the day.
