Gorgeous couple Nancy & Joe live in Australia but decided to elope to Santorini to escape the stress of having a large wedding back at home – I’m sure some of you in the midst of wedmin right now will be envious.
Santorini just looks like an incredibly romantic place, the images almost take you to the little cobbled winding streets, surrounded by bleached white dome shaped buildings, with the scent of fresh and vibrant flowers filling your nose and that golden, glowing light warm on your skin. (And if this doesn’t make you want to go on holiday I don’t know what will…)
Although a simple elopement, Nancy & Joe still went to town with the flowers and fashion for their big day. Nancy wears a gorgeous Badgley Mischka drape back gown adorned at the shoulders, paired with gold Jimmy Choo sandals. Joe wears a classic tux, made by Hugo Boss no less.
I think Nancy’s soft pastel bouquet might be one of my favourites of the year…it’s just beautiful. And it warms my heart that after the ceremony, the couple got changed, and just went out for an intimate, sunset dinner together. Totally simple, but the perfect end to what looks like a perfect day.
Nancy The Bride: I wanted a chic, sophisticated and glamorous look so I chose the Badgley Mischka gown with it’s dramatic back and adornments. I splashed out with some gold Jimmy Choo’s and Marianna & Renia perfectly completed my look with long loose curls and light natural makeup. I kept in mind that Santorini is very hot so I didn’t want to wear too much makeup.
Joe wore a classic tux from Hugo Boss which we sourced in Australia.
With it being an elopement and being naturally private people we wanted somewhere spectacular but intimate. Maria suggested to us the Adronis Boutique Hotel and set to work creating a dream space on our balcony for the ceremony. The setting sunset on the
hundreds of white and blue caves just was the cherry on top.
We relied on Santorini’s colours to become the theme for our elopement. We even had our wedding cake made to look like one of the iconic buildings which I loved. My bouquet had pastels and blues worked in to tie in the theme too. The same florals were beautifully worked on top of giant candlesticks either side of us during our ceremony and in cute little jars and urns on our cake and sweets tables.
We had a civil ceremony performed by a greek celebrant, it was short and sweet just how we had wanted it. Our advice to other couples wanting to escape the big deal and the stress is definitely elope! We’ve been together for 10 years now and we knew what we wanted, combining our dream holiday with an elopement was just perfect. The only thing we wished was that my Mum and our chihuahua Pepsi could have been there!
We had wedding cake and an assortment of greek sweets and nibbles that Maria had organised for right after our ceremony and of course champagne! Later that evening we were booked in for a romantic cliffside dinner at a nearby restaurant. We had the table right on the edge of the balcony especially set for us and it couldn’t have been more picturesque. We didn’t want to draw attention to ourselves by going out to a restaurant glammed up in our wedding clothes so it was lovely being able to change and be more comfortable! I also didn’t want to spill anything on my Badgley Mischka!
Nisha Ravji of Nisha Ravji Photography documented our day for us and we couldn’t be happier with our pictures, we know they will be special to our family for a lifetime.
