Ailsa Munro is a new name in Bridal Design who seems to be everywhere at the moment. The lovely lady has been making waves in the South West for sometime now, but with more and more National press coverage and after winning the Best Newcomer at the Wedding Industry Awards for the South West, she's clearly doing something right. Something we knew we had to share with you... Her latest collection, styled by RMW favourite, Elle at Inspire Hire, is just gorgeous. There are so many elements to Ailsa's dresses, classic white gowns with beautiful details - think billowy sleeves and embellished shoulders, bold colours with structured corsetry, sumptuous fabrics and stylish bridal separates. The collection is diverse, but not extensive, and although the dresses are all very different, Ailsa's eye for design is apparent in each. Enjoy these gorgeous images and if you'd like to know more about how Ailsa works please do get in touch with her.
Elle at Inspire Hire: When Ailsa approached me to style the look of the shoot for her new collection, I used the collection itself for my inspiration. The collection features lots of textures and absolutely beautiful fabrics , it makes you want to reach out and touch the dresses, and this was the starting point for my styling. Styling a space is similar to a dress designer designing a dress, its is all about building up textures, layers and colour and movement. In the beautiful barn we start this layering of textures with a beautiful rustic table, that longs to be stroked, and the bare walls and ancient wooden beams, and then as a contrast the more modern sleek polished concrete floor. On top of these textures I layered flowing lace, both from the ceiling beams and as a runner along the centre of the table, this fabric brings in a soft feeling and has lots of movement just like Ailsa's dresses. On top of these softer textures we used layered crisp white ceramics, glass wear and elegant Ghost chairs. The final layer is made up of soft flowing foliage, including ivy and maple to mirror the beautiful fabric in one of the dresses. Lovely warm red and pink tones in the styling are inspired by the colours used by Ailsa within the collection. Simple touches make all the difference, so for example I wrapped each napkin with a swath of soft tulle fabric to add a textural and colour contrast against the crisp white plate and napkin. I also used urns of luscious fruit, to add colour and another texture. The overall effect of this styling appears quite simple, but the layers and textures are what make it beautiful!
