Nicola The Bride:
The thought of a proper "wedding gown" filled me with dread, and as it turned out this was only the second dress I tried on - I loved its simplicity & its uniqueness and I thought it would look perfect in a forest (when covered in mud).
This wasn't a quick process! We knew we wanted to overall feel to be relaxed and fun, and suit in a forest/field just didn't seem right. James opted for a polka dot shirt and all his groomsmen wore matching happy socks!
We wanted a blank canvas that we could essentially curate and design ourselves, and the Browning Brothers site was just that. The guys were super helpful but essentially left us to our own devices which is just what we wanted. But we couldn't have done it without the help of the incredibly talented Penny from LLC
- and her bountiful booty of antiques!
Decor wise we kept it pretty simple and as natural as possible in keeping with the feel of the venue - greens and whites with a touch of gold for a little bit of magic. James and I spent most of the winter hand cutting, spraying and tying white feather bunting - thankfully we had a wedding to save for!
In keeping with the venue we really wanted a forest feel and the guys at the CGFC
nailed it - there were ferns and mosses everywhere - it was perfect!
The Wedding Party
Imo & Lou were in charge of their own wardrobes and they both did an amazing job, I was so grateful to have them as my wingmen.
Sadly my lovely (auld) uncle Ray was unable to give us away on the day as planned. Father Jo stepped in to save the day and did a bloody spectacular job - there were tears, laughter and plenty of heckles - he pitched it perfectly - I think he might be considering a career move.
Senior Doctor of Heads (Andre Morris) was the Music Maestro - he designed and made a play list that saw us through the whole day...from Enya walking us down the isle to family friendly air guitar and deep, dirty house beats until midnight. Thank you Doris x
did all of the food for us - Shane was super helpful - he was really flexible and worked with us on everything. We were really clear about the produce we wanted, to the style of food and even the recipes and he accommodated us the whole way.
Betty & David @ Tub Of Jelly
were a real find (I have to give that one to JD) - not only are they fellow Glaswegians, but they are a pure dead brilliant duo - they captured the day so perfectly.
I think the most memorable bit of the day would have to be the Bollywood dance. I still can't quite believe we pulled it off after that much prosecco - High five JD! xKaren Willis HolmesTub of Jelly
