A stunning Spanish celebration where the bride - who wore an Otaduy dress - and groom wanted to make it as family-focussed as possible. The outdoor ceremony in Alicante, Spain, was littered in beautiful florals and greenery where guests were welcomed to take turns in tieing ribbons around the hands of the couple. The personal ceremony was followed by an absolutley stunning wedding breakfast held in a floral tunnel lit up with candles and hanging lights, creating a romantic and cosy atmosphere. The day, styled by Paloma Cruz, had warm family vibes and as their nearest and dearest watched on, the couple embraced for their first dance as coloured smoke filled the room.

What Made Our Day Unique

The first thing to be surrounded by our friends and family who came from different parts of the world, the place where we celebrated is a garden full of plants and trees, the guests told us that it looked like a story, the altar of the cermony under the trees with an arch of flowers, the wonderful table of more than 40 meters long in a tunnel of flowers, with candlesticks and lights was wonderful, during the lunch people stood up and sang songs, memorable moments.

Otaduy

Not knowing what style of dress she wanted before she began her search, Maria loved Otaduy as a designer. After trying on potential dresses, just one stayed in her mind, a lightweight, long-sleeved number that reminded her of her mother's dress. Teamed with her mother's earrings, Maria looked elegant as she walked down the aisle to greet her groom amongst the blush florals under the Spanish sun.

Inspiration & Styling

We were very clear that we did not want a typical wedding full of protocol, we wanted a celebration of our union with our families and friends, where everyone felt free and could participate. The style, we got married in Spain country of the bride, so the food and the environment would have a Spanish flavor, so the decoration had to be of Italian style, country of the groom, also the bracelets that we gave, handmade in Italy of cashmere with the 3 colors of the Italian flag, but the most important thing was that the atmosphere was that of the city of Berlin, the city we love, where we met and lived for several years, the party was in a chapel of a church, with many colorful lights, as if it were a real "Berlin club", hanging on the wall a giant poster of one of the East Side Gallery murals.

This wedding was filled with beautiful floral displays, surrounding the couple as they said their vows and became husband and wife. We have a whole podcast episode dedicated to wedding flowers, answering commonly asked questions such as what is key when considering your flower budget? Is foliage actually cheaper than flowers? How can you grow your own wedding flowers? How can you stop them from wilting during the day?
