Weddings like this should come with a warning of 'G' for utterly gorgeous. Not only are our newlyweds absolutely stunning, but also every aesthetic detail of their day is divine: from the venue to the flowers to the semi-naked wedding cake to the peg board table plan. Shall I go on swooning? This celebration is filled with emotion and happiness - and if it doesn't have you reaching for a hanky it will definitely have you drooling over the sweet bar. Mm mmm!

The Vibe Of The Day

When we got engaged we were living in Cheltenham, however most of our friends and family lived in London, so we loved the idea of our wedding being a mini-holiday in the Cotswolds for all our guests. When we first visited RMW recommended venue Elmore Court it literally took our breath away; Alex’s jaw was almost hitting the floor! We didn’t bother looking at any other venues as nothing could compete. We worked with Amber Persia Flowers & Events on the theme of our wedding, and her impeccable vision was extremely helpful in working out the best options for our day. She provided a mood board of sketches and ideas, and made the floral arrangements feel very personal. Amber also provided all the linen, candles and vases on the tables; everything she touched looked stunning.

Peg Board Table Plan

Here at RMW we love a table plan. Obviously they are essential in helping guests find their seats (although I would honestly sit on the floor if it scored me an invitation to celebrations like this... nudge nudge...), but also they have become an essential item of décor, with couples finding increasingly creative ways to organise their guests. One popular option is the peg board, which can work wonderfully with any theme and has the added bonus of being updateable, allowing for last minute changes if necessary. I love how Shantel and Alex have softened their sign using foliage and mini festoon lights, as well as a vintage typewriter. Modern meeting classic in a very cool way!

Music

Our wedding ceremony was led by Father Andrew at St John the Baptist Church, Elmore. Harpist Angharad James played a medley of Mendelsohn’s Wedding March and Pachelbel Canon in D as I entered the church. During our vows, Alex surprised me by singing a song with the most beautiful lyrics; I was in floods of tears - all day! Another special musical moment was when the curtains at Elmore Court opened up and I saw my brother-in-law, Jed, on the guitar and my husband next to him with a mic in his hand. Alex sang ‘Best Part’ by Daniel Caesar and H.E.R. The song will forever have a special place in our hearts.

Did you spy the order of the day sign created by one of our handpicked suppliers, Wildflower Illustration Co.? Shantel and Alex were keen to support local suppliers and small businesses, and lucky them to have husband and wife team Rebecca and Karl on their doorstep to create beautiful bespoke stationery for their big day. We would always advocate working with suppliers like Wildflower who come with a RMW recommendation, however, if your budget doesn't stretch to bespoke then how about having a go yourself? Wooden pallets can add real impact for little cost, and luckily our Lisa is on hand in this DIY tutorial to show you how.
