 C5 High Street Wedding Dress

Phase Eight Bridal Dress For York City Centre Wedding

Photography by Jamie Mac Photography
Roxy and Liam are outrageously good looking and their gorgeous York city centre wedding is every bit as aesthetically pleasing as the couple themselves. Roxy wears a Phase Eight wedding dress which fits her like a glove and is a great reminder never to discount the high street when it comes to bridalwear. We've featured lots of Phase Eight brides over the years, and I have to admit they always look spectacular (check out Philippa and Lucy for further evidence)... The couple chose the fabulous Middletons Hotel to host their big day, a gem of a venue hidden in the heart of York. If you like stylish, city weddings with a touch of history and lots of flowers, then this wedding is definitely for you.

The Proposal

Roxy & Liam: We met in June 2015 and have been best friends ever since.
One day we decided that we wanted to be best friends for life and share a special day with our loved ones by making it official.
It all started in September 2016, after a glass or two of wine whilst enjoying a warm evening on holiday in Turkey.
I mentioned to Liam (as I do fairly frequently) how much I love him, how much he means to me and how I can't imagine life without him...however, on this occasion I added "do you fancy getting married??" He smiled and with no hesitation said yes!
I hadn't planned this, he didn't expect it, it was in the moment, but luckily it worked out pretty well!

York City Centre Wedding

We chose Middletons Hotel York for our venue, it's a hidden treasure in the heart of the city.
It may be a small and quaint venue - but it has a lush garden area in front of the Lady Anne's building, including the old janitors cottage. It boasts a little stone courtyard with hanging green plants for the reception drinks and a conservatory for the wedding breakfast with wooden beams, dark wood floor and an open brick wall, it was just perfect.
We stayed at Middletons a couple of times before the wedding and fell in love with it a little more each time.
The team at Middletons are amazing, they did everything possible to make our wedding a day to never forget.

Geometric Copper With Floral Details

We chose the theme of geometric copper with floral and botanical elements, I never wanted anything glitzy, just cool and cosy! I made all of the hanging and table decorations myself with inspiration from the likes of Pinterest, it made the day more personal to us.
Each guest took home a little copper geometric Christmas decoration favour to hang on their tree and remember our wedding every year.
My mum brought along all of the fresh herbs from her garden for the herb table names, we had decorative sprigs on the end of each table. She also printed out the place names and provided us with an old painted screen frame for the order of the day, it looked amazing.
My 2 bridesmaids, Carole and Kimmy, my mum and I all decorated the room the day before - I couldn't have done it without them, I had the dream team of organisational wizards!

My mother made a fabulous cake! She found the recipe in Good House Keeping, it had a layer of elderflower and lemon, vanilla and black cherry and the top tier was delicious chocolate cake. We decorated it with copper geometric shapes and fresh roses - the topper was made by Etch + Cut who make amazing bespoke perspex and wooden wedding accessories!

Phase Eight Wedding Dress

I love my dress so much, it’s called Caitlyn by Phase Eight.
The dress had shimmering sequin detail with a half draped back, dropping to the floor, skimming every curve like it was designed for me, I felt amazing in it - like a classic Hollywood film star!
The bridesmaids dresses were also Phase Eight - they were called Samantha in the colour latte, they complimented my wedding dress beautifully.

My stunning couture veil and hair accessories were designed and hand made by Sew The Knot, everything was designed beautifully and picked out the soft, light reflecting sequins in my dress, even the cheeky garter was a gorgeous added bit of glam.

Liam's dark blue 3 piece suit was from Next, he looked a million dollars in it, too handsome to even deal with!

The Flowers

The flowers had a mix of colour tones & greens that matched up with our table and hanging decorations, it all tied in nicely.
I wanted a deconstructed bouquet that looked natural and wild with a soft mix of purple, cerise pink, a soft coral and plenty of mixed greens.
Fiona from Heaven Scent really delivered, they were beyond amazing - our sweetheart table looked unbelievable.

Wedding Singer

We had to have Jess Avison play throughout the ceremony, reception and wedding breakfast. Her soft voice and acoustic guitar really set the tone of our day, she was absolutely brilliant.
Jess was playing in the Botanist Newcastle when Liam first started chatting to me, we also had another date where she was gigging in Newcastle, so she was a sentimental feature for our wedding day.

The Photography

I couldn't have made a better decision when it came down to my photographer.
Jamie has captured the day better than I could have ever imagined.
He has an eye for the special moments, gets the angles right and you can feel the emotion coming through the pictures, I look at them and can feel the exact way I felt on that day - plus he managed to make everyone look fab!

Our wedding was the best day of our lives, it could not have been any more perfect and I wish we could get to relive it again!
