Inspiration

If ever you needed proof that superwoman wears a wedding dress, this is it. Emily looks sensational in her lace Avalon dress and plain bridal cape, flanked by her bridesmaids in jumpsuits and leather jackets. Talk about bridal party goals. In fact, talk about wedding goals: Emily & Simon's ceremony focused on equality, with the bride walking down the aisle alongside both her parents and the couple having a handfasting ceremony (instead of rings) conducted by their mums. We also love the industrial feel of Clapton Country Club, simply but beautifully decorated with winter flowers, foliage and festoon lights to create a winter wonderland with a hint of Christmas charm.

How We Chose Our Suppliers

Our venue, Clapton Country Club, was recommended to us by a friend and, as soon as saw it, we knew it was the one: super laid back and full of character. I met Lizzie from Lizzie Thorne Flowers when I went to her wreath making class just before we got engaged, so as soon as we had a date I reached out to her. Our family friend runs a wedding band agency and we knew without fail that Busk Until Dawn are the best wedding band around, so that was an easy decision, and our photographers, On Love and Photography, had worked our friend’s wedding and they were easily the best photos we had seen!

Plain Bridal Cape

It's something of a winter wedding conundrum: you've spent hours choosing your dream dress, but you need something on top to keep yourself toasty. What to do? For bride Emily, the answer was found on Instagram, where she fell in love with her amazing cape. She hunted down the designer, Cupid Blue Bridal, and was blown away by the result - in her words, "the cape stole the day!". We definitely agree that it is completely dreamy and a perfect partner for her lacy dress.

The Vibe Of Our Day

We wanted our day to be cosy, relaxed and super intimate. The venue has so much character that we just went from there. As it was a December wedding, we went for deep jewel colours with a bit of sparkle, and the rest of the styling just fell together from that. We both knew that we wanted lots of greenery and warm lighting. We suggested an asymmetrical arch where we were having our ceremony and Lizzie ran with the idea, creating an incredible eucalyptus arch which really set the scene.

Emily & Simon

The evening entertainment is one of the big decisions when it comes to wedding planning. Do you go for a live band - and if so, what sort of style? A DJ? Silent disco? Something completely unexpected (drag queen, anyone?). Emily & Simon were thrilled with their band, who kept the dancefloor packed from start to finish. You, too, can be confident of hitting the right note with any one of the entertainment vendors featured in our handpicked supplier directory, The List.
