Inspiration

Where do I begin with Polly and Rob's gorgeous wedding?! The Lost Orangery is fast becoming one of my favourite wedding venues. It's a little slice of Venetian heaven tucked away in the Wiltshire countryside and it can be hired exclusively for a whole weekend. If you'd like to see more, we also featured this stunning styled shoot from The Lost Orangery. Once you've seen the outdoor chandelier you'll all be sold ;) Not only is the venue picture perfect, but so are Polly and Rob! They just make such a handsome couple and both look deliriously happy and in love. Enjoy this joy-filled affair, it's a total swoon worthy occasion.

The Venue

Polly The Bride: When we first got engaged, we went to visit lots of different venues and originally booked a big country house wedding venue down in Yeovil. The venue was beautiful but as time went on, we started having so many problems with the management and were both starting to feel really stressed so we made the decision to cancel our booking and try to find somewhere else. I found The Lost Orangery online and as soon as we went to visit we just knew it was the perfect venue for us. I’m so glad we went with our instincts as it has the most beautiful gardens we’d ever seen and the whole experience of planning the wedding there was so different. The team were so helpful and friendly and made our day so special. We were incredibly lucky with the weather on the day so it meant we got to have a lovely long drink reception outside in the gardens and got to enjoy all the different areas of the garden. For the wedding breakfast and dancing, we had a beautiful marquee from Henry at Bath Marquees, who was an absolute star and made the set up very seamless and stress free.

The Décor

We went for a lovely pastel colour palette and added lots of mercury silver candle holders and vases along the long tables. We decorated the venue and marquee with lots of candles which looked beautiful when the sun went down in the evening. Rob made toffee vodka and sloe gin to give as favours and we bottled it in little glass bottles decorated with wooden hearts. My sister is an amazing artist and illustrated all of our wedding stationary, orders of service and menus with beautiful drawings of the venue.

The Dress

When we first got engaged, I spent hours on Pinterest searching for my perfect dress and thought I had a pretty clear picture of what I wanted in my mind. However, as soon as I started trying on dresses, I found it hard to find something that I loved and was worried I wouldn't find 'the one'. After trying on a few different styles, Everley at Teokath in Wimbledon, suggested I try on a beautiful lace fitted fishtail dress from Annasul Y. It was the complete opposite of what I originally wanted but soon as put it on, I felt so comfortable and happy.  I'm incredibly indecisive so I still went to a few more bridal shops and tried on lots more dresses but kept thinking of the one I found in Teokath so knew it was the one for me.

Hair & Make Up

I really loved the morning of the wedding and had such a great time getting ready with my Mum, sister and best friends. My amazing hairdresser Jessie was on hand to do everyone’s hair. I chose to have my hair down in a relaxed style and had a beautiful flower crown made of roses and eucalyptus leaves. I met Sophie when she did the makeup for my sister’s wedding a few years ago and so knew she would also do an amazing job. Having people I really trusted made me feel so much more comfortable on the morning of the wedding and Sophie and Jessie were both so lovely to be around.

The Flowers

We were incredibly lucky that one of Rob’s close family friend’s is a very talented florist. Julia was absolutely amazing and created the most beautiful wedding flowers for us. We went for a beautiful palette of light pinks and cream with lots of Eucalyptus. The Marquee looked absolutely stunning and our bouquets were just absolutely perfect.

The Ceremony

We got married at St Cyriac’s church in Lacock. It felt really special as my parent’s had lived in the village for a long time and my sister had also got married there a few years ago so it was nice that it meant so much to us. I was so nervous coming into the church and worried that I would be really emotional and not be able to say my vows but I felt so much better once I’d seen Rob and it was one of my favourite memories of the day.

The Groom

Rob chose a lovely three piece navy suit for himself and his ushers. He went for a pink tie and chose grey ties for the ushers.

The Bridal Party

I had five lovely bridesmaids including my sister Eve and four friends from school. We chose beautiful long grey dresses from David’s Bridal. My friend Auriol made gypsophila crowns for the girls which looked absolutely stunning.

The Entertainment

We booked the amazing iPop after seeing them perform at a friend’s wedding a few years ago and couldn’t recommend them more. Suzanne and the band were so lovely to deal with in the run up the wedding and were absolutely brilliant on the night. They had everyone up dancing into the early hours which was exactly what we wanted for the wedding.

The Photography

One of our best decisions on the day was choosing Jessica to be our photographer after finding her website on The List, the recommended supplier directory on Rock my Wedding. Jessica was such a lovely calming presence on the day and felt like having another friend around. Rob and I aren’t too comfortable having our photo taken but Jessica, and her partner Rob, were absolute stars and made us feel so comfortable and relaxed. The photos are absolutely stunning and such a brilliant reminder of the day. We’ve had countless compliments on our wedding photos and my bridesmaid has already booked Jessica as well for her wedding next year!

The Videography

We were in two minds about whether to get a videographer or not. The wedding was getting so expensive and so we were tempted to try and save a bit of money but I’m so glad we went ahead with one. We booked Gary from Cinematic Wedding Videos who has videoed a few of our friend’s weddings. Gary made such a lovely video which is the perfect reminder of the day. It’s so lovely to have all the special moments captured on video.

Final Thoughts

We were both really lucky to have such lovely supportive friends and family who all helped so much in the run up to the wedding. I definitely still let stress get the better of me and felt quite overwhelmed in the run up to the wedding. Looking back I wish I had just relaxed a bit more as we just had the best day ever. It was such a lovely day and the best feeling for me and Rob to be together surrounded by all the people we love in the world. I just wish we could do it all over again!
