Planning

Super talented Photographer Megan Duffield is a girl after my own heart with her love for a chalky blue colour palette, so this gorgeous inspiration shoot styled by The Little Lending Co is right up my street. Featuring what I can only describe as immense florals by Bracken and Twine including a mixture of twines, delicate anemones and orchids. There are also some of the most delicious looking cakes complimenting the concept beautifully with marble effect tiers and gold leaf decor. We're then spoilt with gorgeous Rembo lace gowns from Rock the Frock bridal and some serious hair inspiration. I would very much like to wear my hair in fishtail braid with silk ribbon everyday please. Just stunning from start to finish.

Venue

Megan Duffield: With Spring soon approaching myself and a few extremely talented wedding vendors wanted to create an organic Spring inspired styled wedding shoot which encompassed a rustic English feel contrasted with raw industrial vibes. Ash blue has always been a favourite colour of mine and I felt it is a beautiful, muted tone for a Spring colour scheme. The shoot took place at the unusual, different and unconventional Fire Pit Camp in Wendling, Norfolk. This blank canvas of a wedding venue features a corrugated walled warehouse with a concrete floor and numerous bare bulb hanging lights. This extremely strong aesthetic needed to be balanced out through feminism and subtlety so the other wedding vendors involved all aimed to create a softness in their work. It was important that the shoot incorporated numerous juxtapositions of old and new for a contemporary, on-trend styled shoot. The two models worked perfectly with their delicate features complimenting the light and natural ash blue theme of the shoot. Both models wore two different Rembo wedding dresses for a soft bohemian style (dresses supplied by Rock The Frock bridal boutique.)

Flowers

The floristry by Bracken And Twine was just beautiful and encompassed the aesthetic perfectly: Katy from Bracken And Twine: I used twiggy and natural materials to create earthy and textured displays, brought to life by adding pure white and dusky blue seasonal flowers dotted throughout. The elegant florals such as Anemones, Hellebores, Orchids and Grape Hyacinths combined with dried vines and moss captured the essence of Winter unfurling into Spring. For this styled shoot, I fabricated a hanging installation formed from branches and I made an unstructured and natural bouquet, showcasing all those wonderful blooms. To follow the theme, I created a vine like garland flowing through the middle of the table interspersed with spring florets. It was a revelation to be asked to create an organic look with in an industrious environment and the materials worked perfectly for this style.

Styling

Megan Duffield: Renowned unique wedding stylist Penny at The Little Lending Company set the table scape up using rustic wooden tables provided by the Fire Pit Camp alongside clear Perspex dining chairs hired from the Banqueting Hire for a modern contrast. Penny from The Little Lending Co.: I just loved pulling together this stunning concept created by Megan. An edgier, industrial warehouse setting with soft, and delicate Spring blooms with trailing branches creating space for the smaller details to shine. Pulling together the tablespace with ghost chairs and washed blue linens for me made the shoot more luxe and editorial in feel. I used Little Lending cut glass candle holders between the table garland with tapered candles and more candle light was added with tall cylinder vases on the ground.”

Decor

Megan Duffield: The crockery was provided by ceramic artist, Olivia Jefferies. The numerous, matching bowls, plates, jugs and vases al featured a soft, light grey colouring with uneven edges for a rustic and characterful look. The colouring blended with the floral décor and the linen serviettes for a blue and neutral toned table display.

Stationery

Wonderland Invites also incorporated soft neutral palettes in her stationery that complimented (and even matched the flowers Katy used) the table scape: Wonderland Invites: I’d been wanting to create something a little more organic for a while and so this shoot provided the perfect opportunity. I combined florals with a beautiful script font for romanticism, and juxtaposed these alongside a classic serif font. The edges of the paper stock were hand torn for that organic look, and were complemented by an envelope, silk and wax seal. I wanted to create a different style of table plan to what we are used to seeing, and as such, opted for a fabric banner printed on organic cotton. For place cards, I utilised natural handmade paper and silver calligraphy ink.

Cake

Megan Duffield: For the cake, I thought a contemporary marbled design would work well whilst ensuring that it was in-keeping with the soft ash blue tones. Beth Haxby Cakes: I knew the shoot style was going to be rustic with an understated romantic theme, so I wanted to create a stripped-back, and non-fussy cake that centred around the beautiful colour scheme - Ash Blue. I incorporated a marbled bottom tier as I felt this contrasted nicely against the simple top tiers, and the stunning flowers brought the look together perfectly! Megan Duffield: Beth doesn’t only design visually stunning wedding cakes, they are filled with incredible flavours.

Beauty

The make up by Melissa Abel Make Up and the hair by Gemma Holiday Hair Artistry complimented each other beautifully. I wanted both to feel fairly natural and compliment the soft and delicate features of the two models. The eye make-up featured soft blue hues with gradual smoky dark tones for a more striking look. The hair styles were extremely loose and natural for a whimsical and natural style.

Finishing Touches

Reflecting on the modern qualities, I have always had a love for silver and with warm brass, copper and bronze tones being so apparent in today’s wedding trends, it was refreshing to implement silver into the shoot. The table scape featured vintage ivory and silver cutlery and clear glass candle holders. Studio Adorn provided the jewellery which all consist of minimal silver necklace, earring and ring designs in organise circular shapes. The handmade hair pieces were provided by Eden B Studio which are constructed from small glass beads and silver wire for an intricate style.
