Inspiration

Louise and Ben gathered 28 of their favourite people for an intimate wedding ceremony at the Pump House Gallery in Battersea Park; before heading to Pall Mall for a candlelit supper full of speeches, wonderful moments and lots and lots of laughter. They made everything personal and about their relationship, from the giant Dr & Mr light up letters to framed quotes, and not forgetting the wine tasting session accompanying their wedding breakfast. Louise swapped her wedding dress midway through the day but kept her crown firmly in place. What an absolute queen she looked in both gowns.

What Made Our Day Unique

We didn't abide by many of the wedding traditions because they didn't really reflect who we are as individuals. Our wedding started at 3pm, as neither of us are early risers! And we also got ready for the big day together at one of our favourite hotels in Lonon (Blakes Hotel in South Kensington). Since we didn't have a bridal party or any groomsmen, we travelled to the venue together, and walked together down the aisle - we wanted to start our married life the exact same way as we mean to continue it, side by side.

Pump House Gallery

Louise and Ben decided to have a circular arrangement rather than a typical aisle set up at their Pump House Gallery wedding ceremony. They stood in the middle of two white and green floral arrangments with hanging garlands overhead and said their vows with their closest family and friends watching on. It was intimate, it was heartfelt and they both looked incredibly stylish and happy. What more could you ask for?

Inspiration & Styling

We got married in January, so there was definitely a wintry vibe/colour-scheme to reflect the season. With only 28 guests, the overall feel of the day was very intimate and personal, and we put our own stamp on everything. The ceremony venue was a gallery so we turned the place into an exhibition all about our relationship, with our favourite pictures and quotes (everything from Einstein to Hemingway to Jay-Z) with note-cards describing each piece. As wine lovers, we chose a wine focussed venue for the reception and had a Mr & Mrs wine tasting accompany our wedding breakfast.

Planning

We found our suppliers through a mix of online research and word of mouth. We ended up not giving ourselves too much planning time, so that meant we had to make some pretty fast decisions. We put a lot of emphasis on the vibe we got from the suppliers we spoke to, and we needed to make sure that everyone we wanted to work was aligned to our vision (which was pretty low key and non-traditional). We couldn't have been happier with the results.

Louise & Ben

Having a small wedding doesn't mean it's any less beautiful, Louise and Ben's intimate wedding is a prime example of this. They also remind us: "When it comes to traditions, only keep the ones that suit you; never do anything because you think you have to or because it's expected of you. It's your day, you are well within your rights to just please yourselves." If you're thinking of having a smaller wedding, we can highly recommend looking at Periesa and xWillis' Autumn wedding and Charlotte and Steven's fairy light covered barn wedding for lots more inspiration, and reasons to just go for it!
