Inspiration

Pure sophistication and elegance spring to mind when I view this gorgeous city wedding at Lincoln's Inn in central London. A delicate palette of peach and white roses make up the prettiest bouquet to compliment our Brides stunning Clinton Lotter gown from Blackburn Bridal. The low back and scalloped edge is heavenly and the bridal look is finished perfectly with Jimmy Choo's and fresh gypsophila in her hair. And wait until you see the cake!

The Dress

Rebecca The Bride: I wasn't sure what sort of dress I wanted at all before I found it. Thankfully, the staff at Blackburn Bridal appeared to know me better than I knew myself. I knew that I wanted something simple and elegant but I wanted the 'wow' factor too. I was a bit worried that this was a contradiction in terms. Sama at Blackburn Bridal asked me about myself and the venue - she then tried one dress to see my reaction. When I didn't like it she said she knew the one for me - and she was right! The dress had simplicity and class but also had that va-va-voom that made me feel special. I knew that Michael would love it as he is a man of classic tastes. I was told by Sama that the dress was 'very London wedding' and I think she was right. I didn't want any accessories with the dress aside from simple flowers in my hair as I didn't want to detract from the dress itself. I fretted a bit about the hair and the dress not matching as one was London classic and the other very country but I like to think the look reflected my personality in the end.

The Grooms Attire

Michael The Groom: Blue is my favourite colour for clothing, and I wanted to pick a summery blue to reflect the season and add brightness to a colour scheme of white/cream/peach. I love the look of Reiss suits, and combined with a tailored white shirt from Thomas Pink, and the subtle cream of the Mark Powell tie & peach corsage, meant that colour was injected into the wedding. Grenson make stunning shoes, so I finished the outfit off with a pair of their 'Tom' semi-brogues.

The Venue

We chose the venue due to it being a huge part of Rebecca's professional achievements and success. Getting married there was important for me as it showed how proud I am of my wife both personally and professionally. It was in the heart of the city that we both love, whilst providing the space and privacy of a country wedding. The stunning buildings and history of the Inn were the perfect backdrop to our day.

Colour Scheme/Decor

With such a stunning venue and back drop we were both keen to go for a simple and classic summer colour scheme of blue, cream/white, and peach. This would provide the wedding with an elegant feel and compliment the stunning buildings and architecture (internal and external) of Lincoln's Inn. The white/cream were important as they contrasted the dark woods of the chapel and Great Hall's interior.

Flowers

We picked a florist who was recommended by Lincoln's Inn. As someone who had worked at the venue on numerous occasions, he was the perfect person to recommend how best to compliment the venue with the flowers. We were keen on whites/creams, and he suggested adding the colour peach to add a bit more depth, whilst keeping the colour scheme very light and elegant.

The Wedding Party Fashion

Rebecca The Bride: The Best Man was dressed in the same suit but with a dark blue tie to contrast. The Groomsman wore navy suits and the same tie as the Best Man, and black shoes to finish the look. The Bridesmaids were in navy - this was a favourite colour for us both and although, not overly summery, we wanted a colour that was classic and elegant to suit the venue. My Sister sourced the younger Bridesmaids dresses in America where she lives and the two Maids of Honour found theirs online in the UK. I wasn't too fussed as to what the bridal party wore but I did want long dresses as I didn't think short/knee length would go with the venue or compliment the bridal gown. The Flower Girl was dressed classically to reflect the bridal gown with a nod to the navy scheme with a navy sash.

Ceremony

Michael The Groom: It was important to Rebecca to get married in a church, and to be married by the right person. The Lincoln's Inn chapel and the very Reverend Derek Watson were the perfect combination. I'm not a religious person, so we mixed religious and secular readings into our ceremony that reflected our personalities and feelings towards each other. Having our closest friends read these for us was extremely important us, and made the ceremony.
The readings were: A reading from The Sandman, Vol. 9: The Kindly Ones by Neil Gaiman 1 Corinthians 13. A reading from Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte

Entertainment

We put together a play list of music that we though would be enjoyed by all the generations at the wedding, which was somewhat ignored when people started making requests!

Food

We sat down with the head chef at Lincoln's Inn and picked a menu suitable to the summer that we really wanted to eat ourselves!

Photographer

Rebecca saw Jasmine's work in a wedding magazine, and from then on, didn't want to consider anyone else. When Rebecca met Jasmine for the first time, they got on great, and Rebecca was confident that she would take the type of photos that we wanted. We could not have asked for a better photographer, and we love the pictures she took for us. Jasmine was more than just a photographer on the day too - she was organising, arranging, pointing things out, giving valuable hints and tips and generally overseeing a very nervous bride in an impressive and professional manner.
