Same Sex Wedding with Industrial Styling at Wimborne House

Diy Décor

We wanted the day to feel personal - and ultimately save a few pennies in the process - so were keen to create as much of the detail ourselves (with the help of a few family members). We decided to grow the plants to decorate the venue and tables; cue hundreds of starter plants from Jersey Plants Direct that took over our Mile End patio for four months, as well as James’ dad’s garden and greenhouse. We also bought succulents and some larger, more established plants from B&Q nearer the time. We borrowed some wooden stepladders, which made for a fabulous feature next to the whitewashed walls and exposed brick, and my dad made the copper arch using plumbing supplies from Toolstation (and some ‘on brand’ breezeblocks from Selco Builders Warehouse to weigh the thing down!). The flowers were provided by a family friend, Jill Pearson, and were a selection of foliage with bursts of small white flowers. James’ mum made the wedding cake, which we iced together using a marbled design learnt from YouTube (great success!), whilst 92-year-old Grandad Cyril made a huge batch of his legendary marmalade that we put into small jars as wedding favours. - Jack & James
