Planning

I'm going to begin with a quote from Wanderlust Creatives themselves... 'A wedding is always a happy, joyful event, no doubt; but with this styled bridal inspiration, we thought of how somber thoughts have a huge part in making one's wedding day such a beautiful, romantic moment: remembrance of loved ones who are not present for the union; memories of past, painful relationships that actually brought forth a happier time; tears cried to express exhilaration from finally tying the knot! Yes, we took inspiration in something intangible yet very familiar - nostalgia.' Isn't that such a beautiful idea? To me it suggests that wedding photography captures so much more than an moment in time. It captures the history of two people, coming together as one. 'All things born of the soul that can only be felt.' I love how the team have created this feeling in their gorgeous imagery...
From the photographers: The Portuguese call it saudade: a longing for something so indefinite as to be indefinable. Love affairs, miseries of life, the way things were, people already dead, those who left and the ocean that tossed them on the shores of a different land — all things born of the soul that can only be felt. A wedding is always a happy, joyful event, no doubt; but with this styled bridal inspiration, we thought of how somber thoughts have a huge part in making one's wedding day such a beautiful, romantic moment: remembrance of loved ones who are not present for the union; memories of past, painful relationships that actually brought forth a happier time; tears cried to express exhilaration from finally tying the knot! Yes, we took inspiration in something intangible yet very familiar - nostalgia. We shot this set in beautiful Nunhead Cemetery, which is apparently the least known of the great "Magnificent Seven" Victorian Cemeteries of London. Nevertheless, it is such a hidden treasure in this busy city, and we've learned that they actually do hold wedding ceremonies. We knew we wanted to place the setting in an old cemetery with lush greenery to set a somber mood and, in turn, highlight the element of romance, which we think is something that should be present in every wedding event. And with spring just starting, the budding flowers in the surroundings complemented the golden light and kept a lighthearted feel. We had the carefree, indie bride in mind: She prefers her hair down and blown by the breeze. She wants her facial features - freckles and all - highlighted instead of hidden. Her bouquet of wild spring blooms is her statement piece; wherever she goes, she carries it, as it makes everything else come together. She wears a flowy wedding dress, with understated yet quite ornate bead and lace details; and she wears it to run around and mingle without care during the best day of her life. A group of young, talented creatives and wedding vendors in London who we all met through Instagram made this inspiration come alive.
