I wanted something super chilled and to create an atmosphere that felt really ‘us’. I didn’t want to have colour and instead just wanted to have lots of beautiful white flowers and greenery to fit with the English garden feel of the venue. The manor house we were getting married outside of was white, so I wanted to incorporate the clean, fresh and understated vibe throughout. I loved the orangery in the venue and knew I wanted to go to town with lots of hanging foliage and fairy lights in here to make it fell really magical. I knew I wanted gold cutlery because I’m such a fan of gold and white and foliage together, so I was so happy when I found the lovely guys at Rose Metallics - I think it brings everything together so nicely and I’ll never forget seeing the venue set up for the first time. I walked in before anyone else and was so taken aback, it was my actual dream set up and to see everything come together that I had been planning for so long was so surreal.
Slip Wedding Dress
Jess knew she wanted a simple but elegant wedding dress, originally she thought she wanted long sleeves, but after visiting RMW recommended supplier Grace Loves Lace and trying on The Arlo slip wedding dress she knew she'd found 'the one.' She took her Nan, Mum and Sister along with her who all cried when she walked out in her fitted gown. Lucky for us, being a writer and producer, Josh is around music 24/7, so we knew we wouldn’t need a DJ for the evening, but just a couple of great playlists and our talented friends! My sister and one of Josh’s closest friends sang ‘how great thou art’ during our ceremony (which my nanny and great nan used to love) and also sang a couple of songs in the evening, one being ‘You’ve got a friend in me’ from Toy story which has always been mine and my sisters song. We had a string trio to play some of our favourite classics like Etta Jame’s ‘At Last’ and ‘This will be an everlasting love’ by Natalie Cole during our drinks reception which was a lovely touch. For our first dance, we chose Elton John's ‘Tiny Dancer’ because, for some reason that we can’t quite pinpoint, it had just become our song over the years. I was in two minds as to whether we should have a first dance or not because the thought of everyone watching us awkwardly shuffle was not a fun one, so we decided that we would put our own spin on it. Josh is in a DJ group called Goodboys, and in the weeks before our wedding, their song ‘Piece of Your Heart’ reached number one in the official charts, so of course, we had to incorporate this somehow. Josh remade the track so that it stopped halfway through and played the song, to which everyone joined in singing and dancing with us. It was one of my favourite moments of the day!
