A very atmospheric start to this Autumnal Snowdonia wedding with grey skies and mist over the rugged landscapes. After brightening up, this gorgeous couple had an informal ceremony with their friends and family where the bride's sister performed a hand fasting, however, they decided to say their vows privately afterward on a secluded bridge, a real personal moment together! The DIY decor also made the day super personal, from the hydrangea and thyme coming from the couple's garden, the homemade wedding arch to even the elderflower champagne using foraged elderflowers. The seasonal flowers in Autumnal colours looked stunning with the bride's crochet-esque wedding dress from Willowby by Watters. The day was finished off with the entire wedding party dancing the night away with a traditional ceilidh band.
What Made Our Day Unique
The location. Llyn Gwynant is nestled in the mountains of Snowdonia, a stone's throw away from Snowdon. It was really atmospheric, misty and then bright sunshine - a really unique way to introduce our guests to a location that already holds such an important place in our hearts. We had also decided very early on to make a lot of our decorations ourselves; the hydrangea and rosemary came from our garden, the wedding arch we made ourselves, we hung ivy from the barn ceiling and entwined it with lights - it was really magical - oh and we even made our own elderflower champagne from foraged elderflowers. These kinds of details were very important to us both; it was homemade and made with love.
Snowdonia Wedding
The couple chose Llyn Gwynant Campsite as their venue for their Snowdownia Wedding. It's a stones throw away from Snowdon and a venue that the couple already love and hold close to their hearts, so a perfect opportunity to show their guests why they love it and make even more special memories! The indoor ceremony was followed by a marquee drinks reception. With drizzly weather there was something super cosy about the romantically lit dinner that the bride and groom had meticulously chosen with their caterer to use locally sourced produce.Inspiration & Styling
The vibe was rustic, homemade, in keeping with the venue and the location - we're not into traditional so we decided to scrap the male-only speeches - bride, bridesmaids and Mother of the Bride all spoke - it felt very special to have an inclusive platform for people to share their memories and well wishes. We had long tables so people felt more informal and could chat, sharing platters for food and a teacup wall with endless tea and coffee (much appreciated by guests who needed their caffeine fixes - weddings can be a long affair). We wanted the details to come through so we made a lot of the things ourselves (flower arrangements, cakes, stationary), sourced vintage beer bottles which had names of local areas on them, used wood slices as mats, had vintage cutlery on the tables - it all looked warm and cosy - perfect for Autumn.
