Sophie & Graham

Sophie is a French decorator and the wedding planner and creative mastermind behind this gorgeous wedding on the Cote d’Azur. The wedding venue right on the beach looks stunning I’m sure you’ll agree but just wait to see what Sophie the queen of DIY did with the place.

Sophie The Bride: Because we live in a little village, I did a lot of shopping online, I have a Pinterest account to pin all my ideas to make a selection from, and I used it to create a board of inspiration – for my outfit and for my decor.

I chose my wedding skirt from bhlnd, I wanted something quite simple and chic, with boho spirit. My top was from a french ready to wear brand I love Sandro, I will wear it again…

The Accessories

I chose the accessories according to my color scheme: lavender (a tribute to the South of France). The bag was from Mila Louise, the shoes from Jonak, the ring from Hearts on Fire , the sunglasses from Quay Eyeware and I made a DIY silk fabric floral headband myself.

The Groom

My husband bought his outfit on his own in England. He picked a 3 piece suit and shoes from Cerruti. I just added the details, his lavender tie from speak louder, socks from Archduchess, and he designed his ring with 2 little diamonds inside to symbolise our love.

The Location

Finding a location was an easy part for us. Just around the corner from were we live, there is a beautiful house by the sea,  a magical place, la villa mauresque, where our family could stay during this week-end. Our families came from the north of france and from england and they really appreciated having a place to stay, enjoy the sun and relax by sea.
We rented some reception tents to have the dinner and the party in the garden. The team from Var Chapitot (we recommend them for your wedding in the south of france) were really helpful for the equipment rental ( sound, light, party tent, furniture).

The Planning

I was not really worried about the organisation, I’m used to it because of my job and we knew that we would have a lot of help. It was the perfect opportunity for our friends to share that moment with us, and working together was very effective.  My friend Valou, who works for a vineyard for the wine, another friend: traiteur Yves, for the food. I wanted something local for the food but quite modern, so we choose him for his creativity, he even put some purple flowers on the plates which was in harmony with my color theme.

The Entertainment

For the music, friends of ours came to play guitar in the afternoon and for the party we had Cyril from partymakers band as a dj.

The Style

Even if the place didn’t need a lot to look nice, as an interior blogger and designer at solovelydecoration I really wanted to be involved in the decoration, when I was going to the flea market every week-end for my vintage shop, I also bought a lot of stuff for my wedding: books, suitcases, vases…

I painted chairs, dyed old linen sheets, and dollies to do garlands and center table pieces,  I made fabric pompoms, hats for the Photo Booth… I did almost everything on my own. The hardest thing was to  prepare the flowers, the day before the big day it took until 3 am!

On the day we had a lot of help from my family (thank you ) for the last details of the installation, after sleeping 4 hours, it was not easy, but I did it . I just stopped at 11 am to get ready for the ceremony in the afternoon. Hard work but very good memories.

The Photography

We had the chance to meet our photographers Hanni and Marcus from Troistudios Photography  through a mutual friend. It was one of our priorities, we immediately loved their work, they tell us a story through their pictures.
I also like the fact that they are 2 people, 2 different points of view of the wedding, This way I saw moments that I couldn’t see on the wedding day – of what my husband was doing while I was preparing myself and vice versa.

Words Of Wisdom

Remember to have fun first! Everything is all right whatever happens, no problems, only solutions, it’s gonna be a beautiful day so enjoy it!

This is your day, and if you are happy, people who love you, will be too.

Make lists. Including a list of priorities for the budget because very often we have to make sacrifices and it’s better to know it from the start, take advantage of sales periods, we did!
