OMG! How is it June already? My son turned four years old a couple of days ago and I’m still getting over the sheer amount of sausage rolls and ice cream I consumed #mumhangover.
This month we finally got to visit Court Farm again. I have been stressing out to the max since November because the new owners of the farm had done a ton of building work and pretty much changed EVERYTHING. Yikes!! The work is finally finished and the new accommodation, although not what we originally wanted, is lovely. I honestly don’t want to go too much into it because I still feel a bit sad that what we originally put our deposit down for isn’t what we are getting anymore. If this had been my first visit to the farm I know I would have been completely smitten with the new building work, but if I’m honest I liked the rooms we originally booked more. I keep telling myself to stop being silly though because it is gorgeous and I absolutely can’t wait to get married there. We had only ever seen the farm in person in the rain, but last week with the sun shining it was so perfect out by the barn. I know I’m totally jinxing myself but I can’t help it…I wish wish wish for a sunny wedding day!
When I walked into the barn I was instantly struck with how much bigger it seemed than in my memory. Secondly, I was struck with how many more decorations I need to make. I have subsequently been crafting my self silly. The tip of one of my fingers has gone completely numb after excessive craft knife usage, and don’t even get me started on glue gun burns. That being said, my decorations are pretty good if I do say so myself. So far I have around a third of the decorations finished (this only includes hanging decs though, I haven’t even thought about place cards are table plans or signage yet). I have seven pajakis hanging in various rooms of my house. The pajakis have been the most fun to make and I LOVE them. I have no idea what I’m going to do with all of them when the wedding is over (I still want to make about twice as many) I know a couple of friends have asked me if they can have one after and I definitely want to keep a couple. I might stick the rest of them on Etsy. What do people usually do with all their wedding stuff once the party is over?
My wedding dress still needs to be taken up an inch or two and I’ve been putting it off because I’m so scared that somebody could mess it up. If any of you live around Bath and know a very trustworthy seamstress or tailor please let me know. I have spent too long reading reviews online and feeling scared about whom to choose. Other than this minor alteration my outfit is all sorted and has been for sometime, but I do have one item I can’t decide on. In the past few months I have tried, swatched and bought more lipsticks than the rest of my life all together. Although I wear make up almost everyday and love it, I have never been a lipstick girl. I didn’t think it would be this hard to get it right. During my long and in depth research I have narrowed my search down to darkish red tints or stains. Something that I can kiss my husband with all day and night without getting it all over him, but I also want something that isn’t completely dry. Dry lips are so yuck. This struggle is so real; I can’t pass by a department store without covering the back of my hand in a rainbow of red swatches.
Our invites are out now so I can finally show you all the designs. Our most excellent best man and lady, Ed and Flo, created them for us and we love them dearly for their mad skills.
And finally, now the sun is attempting to shine I have a slight baseball boot/sock tan line issue. I walk a lot and I pretty much always wear converse because they are comfy. Unless I wear long trousers or tights all summer I am going to have a terrible tan line for the wedding. Robin suggested I get a spray tan (which almost made me choke on my dinner – Robin is definitely not the type of person to just come out with a suggestion like that). How do other people deal with tan lines on their wedding day? Thankfully my dress isn’t strapless. Does a spray tan cover all the lines or just make darker bits darker. I have never had a spray tan but a dark (brown) part of me kinda likes the idea. What’s happening to me, the bride is taking over! This could be like black swan you guys…except I’ll start covering everything in diamantes and hopefully not becoming a homicidal manic (no promises – send your RSVPs back people).
