Inspiration

This dreamy wedding is undoubtably all about the love, all about sentiment and all about the oh so gorgeous Suzy & Scott. They were married at the local registry office and then set home for afternoon tea, cake and prayers in Suzy's parents garden. Suzy was an absolute whizz in the kitchen and made most of the delicious cakes herself. She also put her hand to a bit of sowing, and crafted the fabulous bunting hanging in their 'shabby chic' marquee out of vintage doilies and antique lace. Samie Lee has captured some truly romantic portraits, that I couldn't help but ooh & ahh my way through. This couple are so evidently in love and at ease with one another and their location. Choosing a field and swing Suzy used to play in as a child as their backdrop...I know super cute right. As well as being utterly adorable this couple also look truly divine in their attire. A stunning Maggie Sottero gown for Suzy and a dapper high street suit for Scott. Definitely one to swell the heart on a Friday afternoon.

The Dress

Suzy The Bride: I chose my Maggie Sottero 'Chesney' dress for its lace detail and champaign colour which I really loved as an alternative to white. The straps were made and added by a good friend of the family Glyn Goodwin. The veil was chosen for its simple and classic style and also to bring out the ivory in the dress. The bridal house gave excellent service and were so friendly.

Grooms Attire

Next suits are affordable and good quality, the suit was chosen for its deep blue colour and slim fit. The shirt was cheap and fitted perfectly, the boots were already owned by the groom and the tie and pocket square were the most reasonably priced that we could find to match the ivory dress.

Ceremony

We were legally married at Beaconsfield old town Registry and had our reception in my parents garden in Amersham. The Property has been in my family for three generations and has great sentimental importance to all the family. The marquees were lent to us by friends from church, which was a great way to create the feel and atmosphere we desired as we could decorate them as we wanted. Special moment in the ceremony- song ‘river flows in you (by Yiruma) we both loved how delicate this arrangement is and it made the ceremony very romantic and emotional. We had a short religious talk by Matt Mitchell (we are both Christians) so a religious element to the wedding was really important for us both. Hymn singing – cello:Camilla Morse-Glover - violin:Joel toms, speeches by best man, both fathers and groom.the speeches were very moving and everybody got very emotional.

Colour Scheme

We chose to have a vintage shabby chic theme with lace bunting. Most of the decorations for the Marquee were hand made using old lace, doilies and net, this was an affordable way to create a vintage feel. Lots of the doilies were kindly sourced by Katy Smith the Grooms sister. The lace table cloths were bought from charity shops by Anne Evans.

Flowers

We bought the flowers at the New Covent Garden Flower Market and did all the arrangements ourselves. My bouquet was made of corn flowers, white night scented stock, white Michaelmas daisies and white antirrhinum. Gypsophila and wild flowers were hung in jars from the ceiling and in the trees . The maid of honour came with me to the market at 5am and was very helpful in arranging the flowers.

Wedding Party

My Bridesmaid Lucy wore a dress from ASOS and Scott's Best Man Micheal also had a suit from NEXT and shirt Primark with tie and boots from ASOS. Our ring barer (the cutest ring bearer ever) wore a suit from Myer in Australia. The bridesmaid dress was chosen for its subtle colour and lace detail. We found ASOS to stock some affordable high street bridesmaid dresses.

Food

We had sandwiches, nibbles, tea, cakes, sweets and drinks. I made the wedding cake and some other cakes with help from Glynn Goodwin, Jacqueline Longman, Anne Evans, Jeanette Izzard, Katy Smith and Claire Tremaine. The wedding cake was cherry Bakewell flavour based around a simple vintage looking design and finished off with a rose on top. All the cakes were homemade. Most of the savoury food was sourced from M&S and Tesco and was prepared on the day by all the kind ladies mentioned.

Photographer

Sammie Lee was an incredible photographer who instantly put us at ease and made us feel relaxed and comfortable to enjoy the experience. The photos she produced at the end were absolutely stunning and we have had countless compliments on them. We would highly recommend Samie to any couple looking for a really unique, fun and good quality photographer.

Videographer

A good family friend from our church kindly videoed the wedding for us, so we can look back on our day in years to come.
