Inspiration

This wonderful same-sex couple did things their way at their incredible Syon Park wedding, with dashing burgundy and checked suits, autumnal flowers and a doughnut tower wedding cake. They had their fathers walk them down the aisle and were met with jubilation by their family and friends as they were pronounced husband and husband. Capturing all these wonderful wedding day moments are incredibly talented, The Curries photography.

What Made Our Day Unique

We were very keen to make our day about what we wanted for us and for our guests. As a gay couple there are no rules to follow, so we made our day our own. A lot of the formalities that people often feel pressured into just weren't important to us, which meant the day was a huge celebration of family, friends and most importantly, love.

Syon Park Wedding

Carl and Craig made their Syon Park wedding completely unique to them. Opting for dark, opulent decor and florals in the light and airy conservatory, as well as burgundy and checked suits. Usually, ones to shy away from the camera, The Curries, made them feel completely at ease on the day and throughout the planning process, so much so they were sad to say goodbye when it was all over.

Inspiration & Styling

There wasn't really a strict narrative that held the day together, though Craig and I both have a dark aesthetic which we wanted to focus on. A lot of wedding suppliers/venues/blogs focus on a very feminine/bridal vision of a wedding. however, as two guys this definitely wasn't a route we wanted to take. Pastel and virginal white just aren't for us! We very much followed our own path here, filling the space with dark autumnal tones, black detailing and deep colour choices which were both contrasted and complemented the beauty of Syon House, and the Great Conservatory's white paned windows and amazing tropical planting. We were very aware the venue was grand and formal but we wanted our guests to feel relaxed and enjoy themselves - It was really about creating a big party atmosphere, that celebrated having everyone we loved together, from every corner of the world.

Favurite Moments

Our Dads walking us wot the aisle was such an important moment for us, showing true acceptance and starting the day how we meant to go on - breaking with tradition! Another moment which genuinely took our breath away was the absolute roar of our family and friends as we walked back down the aisle having been pronounced husband and husband. It was deafening and moved us both (almost) to tears, such a humbling moment.
