It’s well known that the majority of team Rock My Wedding want to jet off to the South of France and renew our vows. And, after carrying out our polls on Instagram, a lot of you will be saying ‘I do’ aboard too. In fact, one in five U.K couples now have destination weddings. So we thought we’d pop together a feature for all the things you should consider if you’re marrying in sunnier climes. Plus don’t forget to listen to Series 2, Episode 5 of our Podcast: Destination Weddings and Where to Start, for lots more advice from Charlotte and Becky regarding the legal aspects that come into play. They are also joined by Kim from Love Cloth who shares her current experience of planning her wedding in Mallorca. Passports at the ready!
Ooh, la la! There’s nothing more romantic than a French destination wedding; it is the country of love, after all. Aby and Joe’s gorgeous day in Normandy is a dreamy mix of local traditions and personal touches, with homegrown flowers, fabulous French food and a DIY foliage altar. Aby looks très belle in her intricate lace and long-sleeved dress by Catherine Deane, matched by her beautiful boho hair, styled into a loose fishtail plait with gypsophila woven throughout. Oh, and keep an eye out for the croquembouche cakes studded with sparklers. Mouth. Watering.
I think this might just be my favourite destination wedding ever. I know! Big words indeed, but Emma and Matt’s dream Italian wedding at a Tuscan castle is very much deserving of this honour. From the flowers, to the fashion, from the decor to the traditional Italian cake, every last detail has been perfectly chosen by Emma and her wedding planner Vanessa.
The beautiful images obviously come from the wonderful James Frost, whose style is just unrivalled as far as I’m concerned. Book him for your wedding and you won’t regret it. Emma and Matt certainly don’t…
This party-loving duo settled on Spain for their weekend long wedding, complete with pool party, sets from various DJs, brightly coloured florals and the most delicious sounding Spanish cuisine…
Jo and Jim are a creative, stylish couple through and through, Jo runs a vintage clothing company (as well as working as cabin crew for BA and having two children!), and Jim owns a party boat that operates on the Thames! So as you can imagine, their wedding is full of fun and gorgeous fashion choices.
The beautiful images come from Adj at Travers & Brown, and they will absolutely have you booking the next flight to sunnier climes…
Belle and Alex had an intimate French destination wedding and I love it because they’ve simply gathered their very best friends and family and thrown a dinner party under the stars. They got married legally in the UK, meaning that they could have a personal, intimate outdoor ceremony for the French wedding.
The couple found their photographer, Marine Marques, right here on RMW which always makes us happy! Marine’s work is so natural and softly shot, I think you’re going to love it too…
So if you’ve been following my story you’ll know I got married this summer at the same time as planning three other weddings with my destination wedding company French Bague-ette! Firstly, I would just like to say sorry for not blogging about our own wedding day sooner! It’s been a VERY busy time but an amazing first wedding season! I’m thrilled with all 4 weddings and I’m taking bookings for next year. I can’t wait to get stuck in and do it all again! You can see a recap of everything on the French Bague-ette instagram.
Destination weddings always make me swoon, especially ones in beautiful France. But today’s is extra special, I just love everything about it, from the dried flower stationery, painstakingly crafted by Emma, to her stunning Halfpenny London gown. From magical venue La Leotardie, to the bridesmaids in forest green dresses, every last detail is thoughtful but there’s nothing over-styled about it.
An elegant, white and green filled wedding in France is just what the doctor ordered for this miserable, rainy British day. Gemma and Spyros’ big day was planned to perfection by Marry Me In France, and every last detail is just gorgeous.
Images come from Darek Smietana, whose work has been featured many times here on RMW, if you’re planning a French wedding, he’s the one for you. We just love his natural yet considered style.
A stone castle, Castello di Bibbione, perched high on a hill and surrounded by panoramic views of the Tuscan countryside is the setting for this incredibly swoon-worthy destination wedding.
Planned from New Zealand with the help of RMW The List recommended suppliers Wiskow & White. The day starts with wine and cheese tasting for the men and ends with dancing on the cobbles of the castle. Emma, the Bride wears a Rue de Seine wedding gown with deep red Rewritten bridesmaid dresses for a sophisticated palette. (FYI, you can find of course Rewritten on our exclusive directory)
This stunning photography is brought to you by Red on Blonde, another RMW The List member.
