BUDGET £37.5 – 40K

If Hannah and Alistair’s wedding decor and details couldn’t be made, borrowed, or built, then they did their utmost best to support local suppliers in an attempt to have a sustainable wedding as possible. They had a purely plant-based menu, built an amazing flower arch and used homegrown flowers to decorate the marvellous barn at Elmley Nature Reserve in Kent. The results are truly spectacular, and the couples smiles captured by Nicola Thompson Photography say it all.

How To Have A Low Waste Wedding & Make Eco Conscious Decisions

The very essence of a wedding reception feels totally at odds to the idea of low waste. I mean, as fabulous as it is to celebrate your marriage – it’s a party that can cause a huge amount of rubbish. BUT it’s a huge occasion in your lives and possibly the only time you’ll ever get all of your family and friends together in one room so it deserves to be marked. Luckily for us, more and more wedding suppliers (and big businesses for that matter) are starting to realise the importance of reducing waste and saving our planet. It is possible to have a low waste wedding and do it in style. Here are our top tips for how to create your very own low waste wedding.

Minerva & Erik

We’re always on the lookout for fresh and exciting ideas for wedding decor at RMW and it’s not often that we’re shown something completely original but today’s laid back LA wedding has managed to do just that…

Bride Minerva is a dietician and along with Groom Erik, is very eco-conscious, so the lovely couple used seasonal fruits, vegetables, herbs for centrepieces that guests were encouraged to nibble throughout the day, or take home after the wedding to plant in their own gardens. Such a great idea, and it looks surprisingly pretty. Honestly, you’ll be rethinking your own blooms for something that kills two birds with one stone once you’ve seen them…

And talking of birds – each and every one of the 1000 paper cranes that decorated their venue was hand folded by Minerva’s Mum. They look so pretty against the industrial decor of venue Elysian.

Ruth & Tom

This beautiful wedding held at Voewood House in Norfolk offers such breathtaking grounds and gardens it was just crying out for an outdoor ceremony; thankfully Ruth and Tom saw the potential in this gorgeous venue and were the first couple to get married on their terrace!

The heavens couldn’t help but smile down on the happy couple as they celebrated their relaxed informal day with their guests and the sun shined brightly as they said their vows. Afterwards everybody was treated to picnic baskets, crepes and a wedding cake made of cheese and were all encourage to relive their youth and bring out their competitive edge in a sack race on the lawn! who doesn’t love a bit of sports day action!

All of this was captured beautifully by Kerry Diamond Photography, so if you love all things pretty and practically perfect in every way you NEED to check out this stunning wedding; you’ll be both inspired, touched and green with envy.
