It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!! My last as an official spinster (that’s what us unmarried women are technically called…rude or what), and it’s almost 2015…which is ever so slightly terrifying for two reasons: 1. I will turn The Big 3.0. and 2. I GET MARRIED!! AHHHH!! (Sound familiar, Summer?!).
Luckily the former reason is covered by a hen do/30th celebration to IBIZA in the first weekend in June – props to my wonderful Chief for organising that one (hi Heather!!), and the latter still has, errrrrmm, some way to go.
As we approach the spookiest night of the year, Halloween, Rock My Wedding readers – I proudly introduce you all to…my coven.
Also known as my bridesmaids (also known as my sisters). We aren’t actually witches by the way, we’re just dorks who love The Craft and Sabrina The Teenage Witch (SALEM!!) and dressing up on Halloween. The last time we where together for Halloween, Florence dyed her hair blue to be Enid from Ghost World, Roslyn was a scary dead bride and I was evil Mary-Kate (or) Ashley Olsen. Marianne was too little back then…she’s the baby.
Roslyn, Florence and Marianne or Roz, Floz and Maz, are all younger than me and we are spread out between Bath, Leicester and Paris. We don’t usually all find ourselves in the same place at the same time, so where better to do the introducing than The Canopy and Stars Chapel. Hidden in the woods around Walcot Hall in Shropshire, it was our first holiday all together without Mom n’ Pop.
Very quickly before we get started it’s awesome to see that our venue, Hafod Farm, has made it onto The Love Lust List. Fantastic news! We know that a few of you who read our last post have booked your weddings there since and we’re excited to hear about your day too. Let us know how you’re getting on.
I’d like to say that this month has been busy with weddingy things but alas that would be a lie. This month has been taken up with the topic of today’s blog – (dramatic music) The Guest List and all things related to our wonderful family and friends who we hope will be joining us on the day.
Having spoken to a lot of people this seems to be the cause of the biggest headache. Venues, dresses, catering and entertainment are a doddle compared to this. It’s something that myself and Debs have gone round and round in circles over. We’ve procrastinated, we’ve taken it al fresco, we’ve even tried applying LEAN techniques to it (something that Deb learnt at work recently and now is the best way to solve problems, apparently) and yet still here we are, having got no further than square one. Well maybe not quite square one, but almost…
As the weather has turned it would appear that Summer is over and there is a hint of Autumn in the air (sad times), but on the bright side it’s not long until Christmas!
In the wedding world, we’ve had a busy couple of weeks. Most recently making lots of bunting. Well I say we, it’s actually been Debs, Kirsty and Katy. The reason for the bunting is that we had a rather belated engagement party over the bank holiday. Friends from far and wide came to a sunny Bala for some rafting, a picnic, BBQ by the lake and then drinking.
Unfortunately, Wales being Wales, we awoke to torrential rain and no sign of the blue sky and sunshine we’d hoped for. Luckily we thought this might happen and so had a wet weather plan in place, but it certainly made us think that we will need a few more contingency plans in place for W-Day. Something for Debs to look at on Pinterest I guess…
