Just Peachey…

Today we’re introducing you all to Katharine Peachey of Peachey Photography who recently got in touch with us. Her images are beautiful, colourful and timeless, which I love, so if you’re looking for a photographer in London or the South East (although Katharine does travel nationally) do go and check her out!

Tell us a little bit about yourself?

My name is Katharine Peachey so Peachey Photography isn’t a silly company name – it’s just a silly surname. My wedding photography is a combination of photo-journalism and creative portraiture, telling a beautiful story of each wedding day without being cheesy or obtrusive.

I’m based in Greenwich in London and work largely in the South of England but do frequently travel nationwide and abroad.

How did you get into photography and wedding photography specifically?

I have been taking photographs for as long as I can remember. Since my Dad is also a professional photographer, I have been brought up around cameras, getting my first Canon at age 11, so I guess you could say it’s in my blood. Wedding photography encapsulates all the things I love in life – food, fashion, architecture, people and romance – so it was a natural choice for me.

I had been to so many weddings as a guest and queued for endless photo calls, hardly seeing the couple themselves, so I made up my mind to offer something different. I capture the emotion of the day without fuss or interference and, other than a few relaxed portraits of the couple, I document events naturally. Meanwhile, my clients have the time of their lives and then come home to a stunning photographic record of their day.

What is your favourite kind of wedding to shoot?

Whether it’s a fancy hotel or a country pub, I love weddings that really represent the couple getting married – being a true reflection and celebration of who they are.

And I love dancing. Lots of dancing.

How would you describe your style?

My style is informal, combining reportage with relaxed portraits as well as all the lovely details too. Wherever I can, I avoid using flash, as, without it, tones are more atmospheric, colourful and flattering. Plus, not everyone wants a lightning strike reminder that there is a photographer in the room!

Really good photography is timeless and that’s my approach to wedding photography. Photographs and albums are heirlooms and my aim is to create beautiful record of the day that is contemporary but won’t look dated in years to come. My interests and my Wedding work projects are diverse so I approach each wedding with a fresh and exciting perspective instead of just ticking the boxes of wedding ‘moments’.

Any tips for RMW readers looking to choose a wedding photographer?

Ask to see a gallery or album from one wedding they have photographed. It’s easy to put together a fantastic portfolio from lots of different weddings and impress people with variety but you won’t be able to get a feel for how they really capture an entire day.

Do you offer any ‘extras’ with your packages?

I always include the option of an engagement shoot as this is a fantastic ice-breaker and means the couple will feel much more relaxed and comfortable with me on the big day. It also gives me a really valuable opportunity to see their faces on camera, giving me a head-start to ensuring they look their absolute best in all of their wedding photographs.

I work with Queensberry albums as they are absolutely stunning – no other albums come close to their quality and detail.

I am currently offering a 10% discount for all bookings until the end of June if they mention Rock My Wedding.

Introducing… VR Wedding Design

Well hello there ladies!

TFI Friday, thats all I can say. It’s been a VERY long week here at RMW HQ and Charlotte and I are a little bit frazzled with planning the super exciting project we have on tomorrow. If you’d like to see what’s going on, and get a bit of behind the scenes info you should head on over to our Facebook page and Twitter accounts to see what we’re posting throughout the day!

However, for now, we’ve got an introduction to VR Wedding Design. Remember the very first Bride we had on the blog wearing Vera Wang? Well, the bride Rachael has only gone and set up her own planning business and has stopped by to tell you all about it…

So who are VR Wedding Design?

Having both planned our very own dream BIG days, we realised we both shared the same passion for weddings; from fab photographers to scrummy cakes, gorgeous stationery to beautiful blooms, you name it we love it. We really do heart everything wedding related and thought what better way to spend our days than doing a job we both adore.

As well as us both loving all the fluffy elements of weddings, we also have separate attributes which combine to make a hell of a team – well we think so anyway. Vicki is one mean organiser making lists about lists, whereas Rachel revels in the task of searching for all those unique ideas.

Being Midlands based we are able to cover quite a vast area; from Derby to Oxford, Northampton to Worcester and all those little places in between.

And here we are…… Vicki in blue, Rachel in cream:

How can we help?

As each and every wedding is unique we understand that each couple will probably require a different level of assistance and therefore we offer a completely bespoke service. As well as this we also have four standard packages to choose from – however all our packages can be tweaked to suit.

Our standard packages are;

Venue sourcing

On the day co-ordination

Wedding design

Full wedding design & co-ordination

Once we’ve sat down and got to know each other over a glass of wine or two we decide together which package will work best for you. For example, some couples only need a little inspiration in coming up with a few special touches whereas others don’t have the time or possibly the inclination to plan a wedding from start to finish and therefore require the full works.

Our main aim is to help you create your dream day (not ours, although we wish we could do it all over again – with the same man of course!) and therefore ensure you’re involved in every stage of the planning and decision making.

For further details on each package, please visit our packages page on our VR Wedding Design website.

Special offer for RMW readers

We’re offering all you lovely lot a 20% discount across all our packages during the month of February. To take advantage of the offer get in touch with us via our enquiry form and quote promotional code RMW0211.

We’d LOVE to hear from you.
Lots of love

Rock My Wedding Sponsor… Hannah Dornford-May

Today, we’re introducing our newest sponsor… Hannah Dornford-May

I started out as a music photographer and spent years in sweaty clubs documenting bands. Then I got asked to photograph a wedding…yikes (or so I thought)! I ended up falling in love with both weddings and wedding photography.

My music photography background quickly lent itself to my documentary style of covering weddings. I’m not about to make you stand with fixed smiles for hours while we get awkward group shots – I want to capture your day for you, as it happens.

I’m there to get those special moments – the look in your eyes as you see each other for the first time, your first married kiss and the the moment you take to the dancefloor together….or the way you giggled together as the best man forgot the words of his speech. All these moments, and many, many more, make up your day, unique to you both.

I’m based in Lancashire but am more than happy to travel further afield – UK or otherwise!

Special Offer for Rock My Wedding Readers

I’d love to offer Rock My Wedding readers a 10% discount on any wedding photography package booked before 31st March 2011. You just need to quote RMW when you get in touch!
