When it comes to wedding gift lists, The Wedding Shop are impossible to beat. Not only do they offer an unrivalled list of carefully curated products for your new home together but they now offer the most incredible selection of experiences for you to choose from too. The kind of magical treats you may not buy for yourself, but would absolutely love to do. Once in a lifetime days and evenings out. Want to hear more? I thought so…
Patchwork Present is a new gift registry that allows friends and family to contribute cash towards the one thing you really want – piece by piece.
With so many couples already living together before marriage it seems that the traditional, department store gift list is becoming less relevant for a lot of people these days. So Patchwork Present founder, Olivia Knight suggests five alternative gift ideas for couples who don’t need toasters.
The Family Moon
Most couples use our site to share their dream honeymoon as a patchwork of images so that their guests can choose which piece of their adventure they want to treat them to – from a skydive to a massage, to a beer on the beach. But we also have a lot of couples with kids already who are using our site to plan and fund their perfect ‘familymoon’. As our site is independent of any retailers couples can collect cash direct from friends and family to spend how and when they like. This seems to suit not just independent travellers and those looking for adventure, but also those couples with children who want to plan their ‘familymoon’ to suit their specific needs.
NotOnTheHighStreet.com have been sponsors of Rock My Wedding for sometime now… and we kinda think thats a perfect fit. Being all about making your wedding your way, we like to find quirky unique bits and pieces you can use to stamp some personal style on your day – where else can you find that than NOTHS?
Of course, it’s well known that NOTHS have a vast selection of the things that every bride needs – decorative letters, signs, bunting and there are extra specially different versions of these as well as the standard ‘wedding’ fare.
But I’d venture to say that there are a whole lot of savvy brides out there who perhaps haven’t thought a little harder about what NOTHS can provide for your wedding, so I thought today we could share some ideas of things to look for here 🙂
Jewels and Gifts
One of the hardest things to shop for for my wedding? Gifts. NOTHS has a massive range of (non-cheesy!) personalised items that make fantastic thank you gifts for your girls. There’s also handcrafted jewellery from brides wanting to take a step away from the traditional string of pearls.. but you know what? They have those too!
I searched high and low for a garter for my wedding… I wasn’t really the garter type, but I thought, why not, I’ll just put it on later. Cue weeks of searching for something that didn’t look like cheap synthetic nastiness and an eventual purchase of a very simple organza affair. Whenever I see modern or vintage looking pretty garters now, I always think it’s worthwhile noting them down and NOTHS has several different designs from different sellers.
Not every bride has a bag but for those that feel they need to have all their little bits and pieces to hand it can be invaluable. Looking back, I probably should have had one, rather than ask my mum for my lipstick whenever I needed it! Not only useful they can be another way of tying in your theme – I love this cute knitted one for a winter wedding or for the fifties bride how about this pop of patent red colour?
Not everyone is all about the flowers but finding good handcrafted alternatives if you haven’t the time or inclination to make your own can be tricky. These simple cotton buttonholes and corsages come in a range of colours to work with your style and will last for ever as a keepsake.
And I bet you never thought to look for underwear on NOTHS? All the (literally) little things are covered with beautiful and super pretty lingerie sets, handmade corsets and even the wee ones get a look in with unique flower girl dresses.
And If you thought all that was good, what about this… The NOTHS Wedding list. Forget towels, sheets and bins and add some personality to your list by choosing fun, practical and stylish gifts. Homeware is all catered for, with even furniture, lighting, garden and kitchen items so you needn’t miss out and your guests get the advantage of being able to buy something you will really love.
So head on over to NOTHS for what I think could turn out to be a very productive shopping spree and hopefully might just tick off the list some of those outstanding items you’ve been searching for.
But before you do – do drop us a comment below and tell us if you have bought something from NOTHS for your wedding AND if there’s anything you’re still really struggling to find and we’ll see if the might of the RMW community can help 😉
Hot on the heels of our last romantically inclined artwork giveaway, today I am busting to show you the stunning art produced by Lisa Long of More than Words! Lisa creates the most stunning typographic artwork on canvases and now screenprints which make brilliant presents for that couple (we all know them) who didn’t have a gift list, a wedding present for your beloved or something to out on your own gift list perhaps?
I say it often, but never before have I been quite so desperate to purchase something we’ve featured on the blog. Without further ado, I’ll hand you over to Lisa to tell you all about More Than Words. Make sure you check out the Giveaway (yes you read that right… GIVE. AWAY. As in FREE to one of you lucky lot!) at the end of the post too!
More Than Words was launched in 2010 by creative designer Lisa Long. Her lifetime love of interiors and typography, combined with a search to find a piece of meaningful and high quality artwork for her own home, led Lisa to design what is now the ‘original Memories canvas’. She was soon inundated with requests from friends and family to design a piece for them… and from there More Than Words was born.
The Original More Than Words ‘Memories’ Canvas
Less than one year on, Lisa’s typographic artwork has been commissioned by customers all over the world. Some of her high profile clients include Dannii Minogue and screenwriter and film director Richard Curtis. Lisa also works closely with interior designers and More Than Words artwork decorates the walls of several well-known corporate businesses, including the headquarters of one of the UK’s leading bridal magazines.
Lisa was a finalist in the 2010 Mumpreneur UK awards for ‘Most Unique Product’ and is currently shortlisted from thousands of nominated UK businesses in the UK.COM awards as ‘Best Creative Business Idea’, judged by Sarah Beeny and an elite panel of entrepreneurs later this month.
More Than Words recently organised its first professional product photoshoot in collaboration with some amazing UK wedding suppliers. Today we have first peek at the shots, including some hot off the press designs.
