Inspiration

We've featured many a gorgeous wedding at dry hire wedding venue Trinity Buoy Wharf in London, you only have to search our archives to see all the fabulous ways our couples have decorated it. Kiera and Adam used the whole venue, having their civil ceremony in The Electricians Shed and their reception at The Chainstore. They filled both spaces with an abundance of fairy lights, floral garlands, and fabulous decor with everything planned to perfection by Utterly Wow. Giving us all the feels with her captures is the lovely Claudia Rose Photography, who Kiera & Adam found on an RMW feature. Plus you'll never guess where Kiera got her stunning bridal gown from...

Our Story

Kiera & Adam: Adam and I met in Budapest 5 years ago. Within three months of meeting and dating, I moved to NYC for work. We did long distance for a year, when Adam was able to relocate to NYC with his work – we spent 3 more years in an NYC bubble, and during our last year, Adam proposed at a lake house in upstate New York.

High Street Ted Baker Wedding Dress

After buying a dress too soon and changing my mind later, I fell in love with a beautiful Ted Baker dress from their ‘Tie the Knot’ range. I wore a pair of gold metallic strappy sandals, with a small heel so I could party all day and be comfortable at the end of it all.

Bridal Accessories

I borrowed some solitaire diamond stud earrings from my Mum. I pinned a dusty pink rose into one side of my hair and had my makeup done by the fabulous Natasha Sheriden – who was calm and amazing on the day. She made me feel the best I ever have.

BHLDN Second Dress

In the evening, when the real party started, I changed into a gorgeous BHLDN dress that I had bought when I lived in the States.

Tailor Made Midnight Blue Tuxedo

Adam wears suits every day to work, so we wanted to make sure he wore something that was special – we worked with the guys at Tailor Made on a custom midnight blue tux, with silk lining and black lapels. Adam’s bow tie was Armarni, which we picked up from Selfridges.

Grey Tea Length Bridesmaid Dresses

Our bridesmaids wore a simple, knee-length grey bridesmaid dress from ASOS.

Groomsmen Suits

Our best men (there were three) wore varying tones of a blue suit, all different styles, with matching blush pink pocket squares. They all looked stunning.

Electricians Shed Ceremony & The Chainstore Reception at Trinity Buoy Wharf in London

We knew we wanted something a bit different, and really liked the idea of industrial-style venues. We also knew (budget permitting) that we’d love a city wedding… when we searched for industrial venues in London, Trinity Buoy Wharf was one of the first to appear. The huge industrial space of the Chain store, the romantic and intimate Electrician’s Room, the unique lighthouse, and the amazing view of the O2 and Canary Wharf (especially at night) – it all blew us away. TBW was the first and only venue we visited – we loved everything about it from the moment we arrived, so went for it then and there. Sarah, the event manager, was a pleasure to work with – site visits were comprehensive and she was so helpful. On the day, Sarah worked with our wedding planners, and they all had everything under control.

Rustic Decor & Styling by Utterly Wow

We had some very clear ideas about what we wanted in terms of styling, but because TBW is a dry venue, we were overwhelmed about how to actually go about achieving it. That’s when we made the best decision of the whole process and started working with the gorgeous ladies at Utterly Wow – Sama and Helen listened to exactly what we wanted and made it happen, injecting some of their amazing creative ideas along the way. They were always easy to reach, patient when answering our questions, and just so lovely to work with throughout. Their support on the day was priceless. We wanted a rustic style, but it was important not to squash the warehouse feel of the venue – so we went with metal tolix chairs from Event Hire Online, wooden trestle tables, blue glasses and gold cutlery from Classic Crockery, which all came together so beautifully. We knew we wanted a lounge area, which we achieved with some vintage style items from Anthology Vintage Hire and Wedhead – who also provided the amazing Champagne Piano Bar (and yes, the piano does actually work :P) Another special feature we knew we wanted was a personalised neon light, and we got it from the lovely Gigi from Bag and Bones. Sama and Helen had the fab idea of hanging the light from a floral, or in our case foliage, wall.

Wedding Flowers

Flowers were important to us – like, with everything else, we wanted to leave the venue to do some of the talking, but softening it here and there. We worked with the wonderful Catherine Short – we used a lot of greenery and foliage throughout, with pops of dusty pinks, dark aubergine, and whites. Catherine created gorgeous buttonholes, vases for the tables, the awesome flower wall and a floral/pipe arch which we were married under (and then we reused to display the seating plan). My stunning bouquet was a gift from a very talented BFF, the lovely Ivy Florence – it was so beautiful, wild and very me! What a gift…

Intimate Civil Ceremony

Our ceremony was like us: short! It was a brief and intimate civil ceremony – we knew we didn’t want to have a long ceremony so we kept this part of our day simple, choosing instead to exchange words in private. I walked down the aisle to ‘The Only Exception’ by Paramore, sung by the stunning Sian Eden.

Wedding Entertainment

Sian blew everyone away during our ceremony, as well as during our drinks reception before the wedding breakfast – she also ended up playing for a while as we ate, which was such a treat. Not only did Sian have a perfect set list to choose from, but she learned two more songs that we requested. In the run-up to the day, Sian was accessible and organised … not to mention super talented. We can’t wait for the next excuse to hear her sing! For the evening entertainment, we booked DJ Anthony Parella (from Alive Network) – Anthony was easy-going, and very responsive over email. We had gathered a huge list of songs we love, as well as requests from guests, and he took that playlist and added to it, making it even more perfect – he was open to our variety of music (which was wide!) and allowed for our cheese, especially at the end of the night the dance floor was heaving all night, just what you want.

Shared Platter Wedding Breakfast

As a couple who loves their food, this was a really important part of the day for us. The guys at Boulevard events supplied our wedding breakfast and it was absolutely delicious. We wanted to make our breakfast a sociable affair as we were mixing a lot of friends and family who hadn’t met many times before. We went for their shared platters option for the starter (choosing British and Italian items) which went down a storm, followed by individually plated mains and their two mini puddings for the dessert. Samantha and the team were brilliant, professional and friendly on the day.

Wedding Cake

For our cake, we worked with the lovely Anika at Love Rosie Cakes (@loverosie_cakes). We ended up having four delicious flavours of cake: a stunning three tiered texturised wedding cake (a different flavour for each layer). And another surprise birthday cake as it was Adam’s 30th birthday on our wedding day! There’s no such thing as too much cake after all.

Booze Cruise

For drinks during the day, my Dad and I made a trip over to France to buy most booze, and we bought our favourite craft beers locally. During the evening, the crew at Coxktails came with their bar and made the most amazing cocktails, and also were able to supply the same craft beers we had in the day which was amazing. We bought our fav food into the day, with a Taco Truck as our evening food.

Wedding Photographer

We spotted Claudia Rose Carter here on RMW and fell in love with her cool, casual style. We loved the way she captured the ‘in-between’ moments. Neither Adam nor I love cameras/photos of ourselves, so we didn’t want too many formal shots. But we were amazed, even the handful of organised shots we did want, Claudia made quick and pain-free! Not only discreet and amazing at her job, but Claudia was also there with us girls as we got ready and helped calm and reassure me – what more could you ask for on your wedding day? We were blown away with the finished product and how she captured the love, happiness, and magic of our day in every shot – what an amazing talent!

Wedding Gift List

Rather than a registry, we opted for any gifts to be contributions towards our honeymoon in Japan. We used Honey Fund which was easy to set up and easy for guests to navigate.

Real Bride Wedding Advice

How to get through the planning process? Try and have days where you and your partner in crime don’t discuss anything to do with the wedding – it will keep you sane and keep you both excited about your day. Don’t overthink things (even though it’s hard not to). Accept help from your family, and if your budget allows, use a planner (like the amazing ladies at Utterly Wow!).
