Inspiration

It seems a no brainer not to host a tipi for your wedding reception when you have the most incredible lakeside spot right on your doorstep. The views, the setting and everything about the rustic decor captured the essence of this Summer wedding beautifully. With romantic golden hour portraits and pretty pink and white wedding flowers, you'll be swooning right until the very end. Enjoy.

What Made Our Day Unique

We were fortunate enough to be able to host our tipi reception at Elias' parent's family home, which has the most idyllic views of the rolling hills of Devon. We had a unique set up by their lake and felt it made our day even more special being in the setting where Elias grew up. There were also particular special touches that family and friends added, like helping with the flowers (including Laura's dad growing some of the flowers and Elias' mum coordinating the various arrangements), lending us vintage cars and even helping Elias to build our own bespoke bar!

Tipi For Wedding

This magnificent tipi for a wedding at home was supplied by none other than our fabulous recommended supplier, World Inspired Tents. Set on the gorgeous lakeside bank, it was decorated with a semi-naked cake, a giant fabric table plan, a homemade bar and lots of incredible bloomsey floral arrangements. Both Laura & Elias walk around the tipi and the grounds totally at ease, having the time of their lives with their family and friends.

Inspiration & Styling

Our vision was to create a laid back, festival vibe by the lake. We also wanted to keep the 'formal' feeling of being a wedding and including luxurious touches definitely helped with this. The space of our set-up lent itself perfectly to our theme and the open nature of our venue meant that guests had the freedom to wander around the lake or walled garden but remain close to the main tipi. We drew a lot of our initial inspiration from blogs featuring other weddings that used the same tipi supplier and images of similar setups on Pinterest.

Have you thought about how you are going to make your grand entrance on your wedding day? Laura and Elias surprised their wedding guests by driving over the field towards their tipi reception in a blue vintage Austin Healey 3000 car that they had borrowed from a family friend.
