What Made Our Day Unique
We met in a ski resort in the French Alps, so had a slight ski theme to our day complete with shot skis and Génépi! Our invitations were beautifully hand-designed watercolour sketches of us sat on a chairlift as bride & groom, and our wedding breakfast tables were named after ski resorts we had been too together. Jake's best man is in a band - The Secret Elephant. The rest of the band members set up while the wedding breakfast was going on, and they played for our evening entertainment which was a really special personal touch and even wrote a song about us! (their album is now on Spotify so pretty special) They are a modern rock band, so we were a bit worried it may not be everyone's cup of tea, but everyone including my mum was rocking on the dancefloor till the early hours! Our favourite moment was the ceremony, I walked down the aisle to an acoustic version 'You're my best friend' originally by Queen. Jake cried when he saw me and it took some effort for me to hold back the tears to prevent my make-up from being ruined! We both wrote our own vows which were very personal about our journey and it was hugely emotional and special, a memory we will both treasure always. Everyone cried and commented on how it was one of the best and most emotional ceremonies they had ever experienced.
Tweed Wedding Suit
Jake wore a tweed wedding suit together with his groomsmen who teamed their suits with green ties and pocket squares to grace the Christmas theme. Philippa looked beautiful with her long braided hair teamed with an embellished headband and laced detail dress by Anna Georgina. Her bridesmaids all donned gorgeous green dresses as well as white gypsophila bouquets. Flower House Hartburn created the arrangements including the bride's elegant combination of anemones with black centres, a subtle nod to rock n roll along with her black glitter nail varnish.Inspiration & Styling
Classic, vintage, with a hint of rock n roll! After meeting in the French Alps, we wanted a Winter wedding to be as close to ski/snow vibes as possible. We both love Christmas and thought this was the perfect time of year to get married, and this set the basis for our styling. We went for whites & Christmas greens for bridesmaid dresses and groomsmen ties/pocket squares and for the flowers - my bouquet was all white and greens with anemones with black centres for the hint of rock n roll, I also had black nails with glitter (since it was Christmas time!)
Planning & Advice
Best tip ever - hand everything over to your Maid of honour/Mum at least 2 days before the wedding, and go on a spa day with your girlfriends the day before your big day so you are completely chilled out and start the celebrations early with your bridal party - it goes so quick, having the extra day before to be all prepared allowed me to be much more relaxed. We went to the Feversham Arms in Helmsley which was fabulous, and we had lots of pampering treatments & champagne!
