Inspiration

A traditional Ukrainian Wedding crowning ceremony took place amongst the absolutely stunning landscapes of this North Carolina venue. Mountains and forests provided the most picturesque backdrop for this couple's celebration, all captured by the talented Erin Morrison Photography. There was DIY decor galore, including homemade mirrored table plan and welcome signs and the sweetest four-legged guest - who looked incredibly dapper in his bowtie, how cute! With the bridesmaids wearing hues of blues and greens and the groomsmen in matching suits, the wedding party was just as picture-perfect as the landscapes, not forgetting the bride who looked simply stunning for this art deco/boho-Esque celebration, in a lace detailed dress from new RMW recommended supplier, Made With Love Bridal.

What Made Our Day Unique

"We sought a venue that gave us flexibility to choose every detail, rather than a turnkey venue. I (Lea) designed and handmade almost every detail including stationary, day-of signage, the arbor, table runners--and ensured I could upcycle, reuse or sell almost everything I made.

We had personal touches sprinkled throughout such as signature drinks named after our favorite band’s songs, and terrarium centerpieces made by the bridal party. It was very important to us that our wedding was personal and reflected us as both individuals and as a couple. We wrote our own ceremony and vows, hand-picked the readings, and incorporated a Ukrainian crowning ceremony to celebrate the groom’s heritage." - Lea & Alex

Ukrainian Wedding

To celebrate and incorporate the groom's heritage, a Ukrainian wedding tradition, a crowning ceremony, was included. The guests watched on as wreaths were placed on the Bride & Groom's heads to symbolise love, purity and fertility. This was just one example of the personal touches that were added to this wedding, not forgetting the signature drinks that were named after their favourite bands and centerpieces made by the bridal party. We also absolutely love the fact that when making all the decorations, Lea and Alex made sure that after using them for their own wedding they could reuse it all somehow or sell it instead!

Inspiration & Styling

My planner nailed it when she said art deco meets natural blue ridge boho. There is something just so calming and aesthetic about the cascading blue ombre of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina. We wanted to celebrate the natural beauty of our home while also incorporating art deco-esque geometric shapes. Plus I love the contrast of gold against navy blue, muted green and grey palettes.

Lea & Alex decided on writing their own vows to make it that more personal. If you need a little bit of help writing some vows of your own or want some wedding reading ideas, we have a whole heap of help for you to take a look at! Happy Writing!
