FAQS
Why should I book a professional make-up artist for my special day?
The main reason I think for getting a professional involved is that you will be photographed and/or filmed from all angles, all day long, and if you look your very best, you will feel so much more confident in front of the camera. The wedding photos will be put in frames, stored in photo albums, and hopefully treasured for the rest of your life. I use a variety of tried-and-tested techniques to ensure that you not only look beautiful in person, but more importantly, that you photograph well. HD cameras can be harsh, and a professional make-up artist is your best ally against this!
Will you personally be doing my make-up and/or hair on my wedding date?
Yes absolutely, if you book me, you get me! Unlike many other make-up artists who will pass your booking on to one of their group of freelancers (who may have less experience than themselves), I am completely independent. If you have a larger bridal party, I will of course recruit one of my circle of excellent and trusted colleagues to assist me on the day.
How do I know that your make-up style will suit me?
Please look through my Instagram and the images on my website properly first, before booking me, to check that my style suits your own. My style is generally clean, polished and natural-looking, with a touch of glam. You won’t look like a supermodel or a film star or anyone else afterwards, you will simply look like an enhanced version of yourself at your prettiest and most well-rested, like you’ve had ten hours’ sleep for once, or just returned from a spa weekend!
Are you comfortable doing make-up on all different skin tones?
Yes, absolutely. I’m white/Caucasian myself, but I’ve got lots of experience doing make-up on clients and models of all ethnicities and I have a range of foundations, concealers and powders for all skin tones in my collection. I’m very happy to send you informal snaps of girls of a similar skin tone/ethnicity whose make-up I have done on previous occasions.
What type of hair styles do you prefer to do?
I personally much prefer softer and more natural looking hair styles, as I think they are so much more contemporary and flattering than rigid ringlets and heavily backcombed bouffant “bridal” specific styles, which I think just look a bit naff these days and will date your photographs. Having said that, I would avoid going for very ‘undone’ boho hair styles. Although they look cool on Pinterest or Instagram, they could actually look rather scruffy on your wedding photographs, as the camera tends to pick up stray hairs and texture a lot, especially in bright sunlight.
