Inspiration

Bride Yasmin is a fashion blogger, so as you can imagine, she looked ridiculously gorgeous for her wedding day. Having fallen in love with a Bo & Luca dress online, she hunted it down in real life then ordered without even trying it on! Clearly it was meant to be as, this gown is perfect for her! If you're a fan of the bohemian delights of Bo & Luca too then you're in luck as it just so happens our friends at Knot & Pop are running a pop up Aussie Bridal salon at Town Hall Hotel THIS week including Bo & Luca - it's a MUST visit if you're on the hunt for something a little different to the norm, like Yasmin's gorgeous dress. And it means you wouldn't have to order a dress without trying it on ;) Click here for more info and tickets (last few remaining!) Anyway, back to beautiful Yas and Oliver and the images from Depict Photography, which will have you dreaming of hazy summers days, drinks on the lawn and the sweet scent of lavender and roses...

Manhattan By Bo & Luca Wedding Dress

Yasmin the Bride: I started researching wedding dresses online around August/September 2015. I know very early considering my wedding would be in July of the following year – better safe than sorry when it comes to wedding dress shopping ;) After countless hours my secret ‘Wedding Gowns’ board on Pinterest was full of beautiful gowns. However there was one particular dress that stole my heart and I just couldn’t stop thinking about it: The ‘Manhattan’ dress by Bo and Luca. By chance I found out that Folkster Bridal in Kilkenny, Ireland had a sample of the ‘Manhattan’ for sale exactly in my size. I took that as a sign and ordered the dress without trying it on. I was so nervous when it arrived and so many questions that I should have asked myself before I actually bought it ran through my head. Thank God it fit like a glove and the sign turned out to be right. I felt so good in it and it just felt more than right. Sometimes you just have to take risks to get that dream dress. As I’m a terrible dancer and have an obsession with all things fashion, I had to have a second dress to wear after the first dance where I could really shake it off (in Taylor Swift’s words). Thanks to the lovely girls at The Mews of Notting Hill in London I was able to find a lovely Rime Arodaky mini dress from their Little White Dress collection. I’ve always been drawn to veils. I looked for one but couldn’t find anything that made my heart beats faster. That’s when I turned to my lovely friend Dajana Basic who happens to be a bridal designer. We came up with a design together and it really is the veil of my dreams. Just not very easy to walk with because of the length ;) Louise Alway who did my hair and Mariam Jensen who worked her make-up magic made the bridesmaids and me feel special. We looked fresh-faced and natural which was super important to all of us when it came to the beauty aspect of wedding. Ollie chose a lovely blue ‘Hyde’ three-piece suit by Richard James for him and a rich dark blue three-piece suit for his ushers. They wore light blue ties to go with it. My husband and I got married in the deepest countryside of Dorset in England where he grew up. It was the perfect location: the place means a lot to both of us and it couldn’t be prettier (or more English). We had our ceremony at the local church and our reception inside a marquee at Crepe Farmhouse not far from the church. A big bonus: the sun was shining a it was nice and warm in true English fashion ;) We wanted a typical nonchalant English country wedding with a few special touches here and there. My favourite colours are white and gold so we decided to keep that as our colour palette for the marquee decoration. Most of the décor was kept in white whilst little touches such as charger plates and cutlery were gold. Our favourite thing was the paper pompons in the marquee above the dance floor and the gold-framed table plan hanging on a tree just outside the marquee. The guys at Taddle Farm Tents were the best and we’re so thankful. They literally made our marquee dreams come true. We were lucky that one of Ollie’s family friend is a super talented florist. Alison created the most gorgeous wedding flowers. The bouquets were white and light pink whilst the marquee flowers for the tables were simple yet lovely gypsophila arrangements. I had six gorgeous bridesmaids including my sister, 4 very close friends and Ollie’s sister. And I had my youngest sister as a flower girl. The wedding had a lot of boho vibes, so we wanted to find bohemian style dresses for them. I had been a fan of Reformation for a long time and they had the most beautiful champagne dresses for my bridesmaids. My little sister wore a cute dress by Stephanie Wolff. The ceremony took place at St John the Baptist Church in Symondsbury. Ollie and his family are very close to the church and it was so special to have our ceremony there. My favourite moment was when we were saying our vows to each other. The words mean so much and we were so touched. Another favourite moment was when our good friend Con played an acoustic version of ‘Kiss Me’ by Sixpence None the Richer on the ukelele during our exit. We felt so incredibly happy and also to see how happy everyone else was for us was amazing. Thanks to my Ollie’s parents we found an awesome (not exaggerating here ;) ) wedding band. The Sensation Band managed to get and keep everyone on the dance floor for the entire evening. As a half German-half Brazilian marrying an English man in the English countryside, Ollie and I really wanted our families and friends to experience some lovely British food. Nick and his team at Dorset Fine Dining made the most incredible local Lyme Bay Crab for starter followed by sausage and mash. For dessert we had lovely meringues with strawberries & cream. We couldn’t recommend Kate and Kevin from Depict Photography more. Thanks to their photographic talent, we have such pretty wedding memories. They were both so lovely to be around and made us feel comfortable. The week before the wedding I started to think too much about little and petty things like whether or not to put a bow around the flower vase. In hindsight I wish I hadn’t done that. None of that matters. I should have been a bit more relaxed in the run up to the wedding. Plus I know everyone says that but make sure you really take it all in because the day goes by so fast. It was truly magical for Ollie and I to be surrounded by the people that we love on such a special day with us. Now we keep wishing we could do it again.
