If you’re looking for the perfect way to unwind during wedding planning, then I’d highly recommend attending a day retreat with the lovely ladies from Anon Design Studio. Not only will you totally relax and enjoy gorgeous food, but you’ll also be able to learn (or practice) your calligraphy, which will come in very handy for your wedding day. I attended a workshop at the beautiful Pengenna Manor a little while ago, here’s what happened, if you’d like to see…
We began the day with a blissful hour and a half yoga session from Amy at Next Wave Yoga, which really was the ultimate way to relax. The weather was glorious and Pengenna is located in a magical setting so it really did allow you to completely switch off from everything. The next workshop is at Watergate Bay Hotel, which has incredible sea views, so I’d imagine that will be equally as calming (plus if you fancy making a weekend of it, the rooms at Watergate are lovely – it’s a great hotel).
After a cool glass of elderflower and a delicious clotted cream shortbread biscuit (or two), we gathered in the newly refurbished Cowyard Barn at Pengenna for lunch. This was a beautiful spread of salads, fresh bread and smoked salmon and gave everyone the opportunity to have a chat. If you were coming with your mum, or bridesmaids, it would be the perfect moment to relax together and enjoy the wedding planning journey.
After lunch, the Anon ladies hosted their modern calligraphy workshop, providing everything you’d need to learn the basics. Lyndsey is very patient (!) and helpful, and by the end I really felt like it was something I could work on myself at home. If you’re planning on hand lettering aspects of your big day, I’d highly recommend going on a workshop to get those basics nailed.
We finished the day with tea and cake, leaving for home feeling completely relaxed, with goody bags, calligraphy tools and more cake in hand. It was a wonderful day and such a pleasure to catch up with Erica and Lyndsey, the founders of Anon Design Studio, who are members of our recommended supplier directory, The List.
If you’d like to attend the next yoga and calligraphy retreat, you can see all the details here. I attended the day as a guest of Anon Design, but all opinions are my own – it was a lovely day and I’d highly recommend treating yourself.
