Kerry & Ben

Think beautiful summer meadows with pastel pretty wild flowers and you can envision the whimsical wonderland Kerry & Ben decided on for their summer wedding at Barton Hall.

But what I bet you won’t of guessed is all the creativity, dedication and crafty family & friends who helped to make their dream come true. Between them they handmade bespoke mis-match Bridesmaid dresses, table plans, signs and so much more, in fact if it wasn’t made with love, they didn’t want it and the cutest thing of all is the sign made by their adorable Daughter to carry down the aisle before Mummy entered.

If you love a wedding with an intimate vibe and budget friendly personal touches you’re going to love this… Enjoy!

Kerry The Bride: Our wedding was booked and planned within 8 months, eeeek!

The Venue

I couldn’t believe our luck when we found the stunning Barton Hall. The Orangery was the most perfect location for our service and the relaxed feel of the venue and staff added to our dream day.
As a bride I didn’t want anything to look too perfect with straight edges and not a hair out of place! Perfection for us was imperfection; the time, love and care it took us to create all the little details by hand. That handmade look was more important than using shop bought items. We wanted everything to be a reflection of all the pretty things that we liked and were personal to us.
Along with that handmade feel, I wanted to create a fun and magical whimsical day; full of a soft, pastel colours and textures.

Florist

Rockabilly Rose did the most perfect job of tying and encompassing our entire colour palette to create something in keeping with our whimsical theme. The flowers were the most incredible I have ever seen and I didn’t want to put them down all day.

Decor

Our family is the most important thing in the world to us and we wanted the day to reflect us as a family unit, even our daughter Poppy wanted to get involved. She spent hours using her ‘neatest writing’ to hand make our table names and a sign to hold as she took her pride of place walking down the aisle!

Bridesmaids, family and friends all chipped in to turn all our thoughts and dreams into reality. Their help was priceless and Katie, Patricia, Beverley, Emma, Rachel, Lisa, Amy and Emily were always on hand when I needed them. Even my Bridesmaid’s Mother Veronica (who also handmade my stunning headpiece!) and friend Lucy got on board, tirelessly helping to hand make what we thought were the most incredible Bridesmaid dresses in just 6 months! I feel blessed to have such amazing friends around me.

Of course without my Mum helping to look after the kids I would have been unable to put in the time and effort that I did. I can’t thank her enough for all those hours of childcare, giving up her time so that we could create our perfect day. She really is one in a million!

Cake

What can I say about the cake?! We were surprised with the most stunning cake I have ever seen (it also tasted incredible!) Rachel at ‘Buttercream Tart’ created an absolute masterpiece that the guests were still talking about weeks after!

The Dress

I originally saw THE dress online. It was designed by the talented ‘Vintage Rose’. As soon as I saw it I knew it was the one for me and I started hunting high and low for it. When it seemed impossible to find, I finally stumbled across a shop sample in Once Upon a Lifetime. I couldn’t believe my luck and it fitted perfectly too!

The veil tied in beautifully with the dress and again I knew what I wanted but had difficulty finding it. Thank goodness for Etsy! It was fast becoming my best friend as was Pinterest. It had exactly what I was looking for and finished off my look perfectly.

Groomsmen

Going with the more comfortable, relaxed feel to the day and a pastel colour theme, Ben and I decided that traditional suits were not for us. Instead we chose some spectacular bow-ties from ‘Mr Bow Tie’ and teamed them up with pastel blue trousers and a waistcoat for Ben. They added to the handmade mix and match, whimsical feel of the day and all the Groomsmen looked stunning.

Beauty

Being surround by my Mum and best friends on the morning of the wedding was perfect, relaxed and precious. We drank champagne and listened to our favourite tunes while we got pampered by my talented makeup artist Liza Smith and hairdressers Rachel Nutt. I wanted my hair to be loose on my shoulders with a tussled look. It was finished off with small purple flowers leftover from my bouquet and a small plait tied with blue ribbon for luck!
My 1920s inspired hairpiece was made of vintage crystals and created that perfect detail once I took off my vale. Again my makeup was kept simple, but illuminating. With the help of these two amazing ladies I felt a million dollars!

Ceremony

Walking down the aisle with Poppy at the front and being greeted not only by my best friend and Husband (to be), but also our baby boy Ted is a memory I will forever treasure. Our marriage was about the four of us sharing our name and sharing our life. As we said ‘I do’ a butterfly entered the orangery and landed on our rose garland; it couldn’t have been more perfect.
My brother Brett and friend’s daughter Ellie read the words we had chosen for our readings and everyone laughed and clapped. Our friend Darren video recorded the service for us; everything we had envisioned and dreamed of.

Photography

Finally, Daniela at Ferri Photography. WOW! What can I say?! Our memories, all of them, were captured with the most beautiful photography I have ever seen. She was so relaxed all the guests were comfortable and it completely worked with what we wanted.
Although having a handmade wedding created in such a short time was hard work, the incredible feeling and sense of achievement was amazing! I would love to do it all over again!
