Outi & Masa

Forget 50 Shades of Grey we bring you 50 Shades of Green! Outi & Masa’s Finnish archipilago wedding is SO beautiful; I love all the natural beauty of the woodland and the gorgeous sea views where they held their wedding ceremony are breathtaking.

The floral’s are stunning as well and were all put together by the groom Masa’s mum, how special & super talented is she! This wasn’t the only DIY going on either, Bride Outi also designed all the amazing stationery & graphic’s and her boho wedding dress was a remake of a designer gown.

A relaxed intimate wedding with lots of personal touches and oh some more green! You’re going to love it!

Outi The Bride: We met at the start of summer 2013 and only a week after the first time we’d met we moved in together. From the very beginning we both thought how everything just felt so natural when we were together; as if pieces of a puzzle had been clicked together. No doubt about it Masa is my soul mate.

The Details

We got married on a perfect, warm and sunny Saturday in July in the Finnish archipelago in Sipoo where we live. It was in the same archipelago where we’d got engaged a year before on the picturesque lighthouse island of Söderskär.
We felt that our wedding should be authentic and reflect who we are rather than meet other people’s expectations of how weddings should be, so we kept it as natural and as personal as possible. We wanted to share our special day with 40 of our closest family and friends including children because we wanted to keep it as an intimate and laid-back gathering. We both love the outdoors and the sea very much so we chose our venue and our theme accordingly. One could describe it as a mixture of a forest, beach and backyard wedding.

Colour Scheme

Our colour scheme was green and we wanted to use Finnish wildflowers for the decorations as much as possible. We made a lot of the details for our wedding ourselves with the help of our friends and family. I made our invitations and all other graphics. Two of my bridesmaids helped me with the desserts and another bridesmaid did my wedding hair for me and all of the other bridesmaids. The groom’s mother made the stunning flower decorations, flower crowns and my wedding bouquet. We are so lucky to have such talented people around us! This wedding was indeed a group effort, which made it even more special to us.

The Ceremony

The ceremony took place on a beautiful cliff with the view to the sea as our background. This cliff was one of the reasons we chose our venue. We didn’t want a church or a private property as we now know we can always paddle back to this magnificent place to spend our wedding anniversary’s. We wrote the wedding ceremony ourselves, which bound together the coordinates for our lives; the island where we got engaged and the island where we got married. Those dates and coordinates are now engraved in our rings. From the first look at each other to our last dance under the velvety sky of the summer night we truly enjoyed every second of our wedding and thankfully we’ve now got all these special and wonderful moments captured by Therese Winberg for us to remember and enjoy our day for years to come!
