FAQS
“Say cheese!”… do we have access to Barra Castle grounds for photos?
Yes! Our super creative and experienced Head Gardener Suzy has developed lots of beautiful areas for photo opportunities, including the south lawn, walled garden, woods, poly tunnels, fields, and gardens. As an added bonus – any couple that books the barn is allowed to use the rounds for an engagement shoot. You can then use one of these pictures on your wedding day in one of our unique picture guest book frame. Guests can sign and write messages – a beautiful keepsake for your wall! Please ask one of the team for more info.
“Keep warm and snuggle up” - Is the Barn heated?
We have underfloor throughout our Barn keeping you and your guests cosy all year round, whatever the weather. We also have a snug area with a wood burning stove where your guests can chat and relax as the evening winds down.
"Hair of the Dog"... Can I bring my four-legged friend?
We are a livestock farm & love animals. We know how many couples would like their best friend to attend their big day, we request that this is for a limited time, they are always on a lead & are supervised. Well behaved dogs are welcome to our lodges by prior arrangements.
“We’re hardy types!” Can we get married outside?
Depending on the Scottish weather we can offer different spaces within the castle grounds. The venue lawn is popular as is the south lawn of the Castle. (There is a supplement should you opt for the South Lawn.)
“The numbers speak for themselves…” Do you have minimum and maximum numbers?
The number is up to you – because our space is super versatile - you can have as few or as many as you wish, although max is probably 300! The Barn is exclusively yours and the Hire charge is the same regardless of how many guests attend. We host small and intimate events to larger celebrations.
