Why to get married in the Istria region - Croatia?
Croatian coast is divided between three regions – Istria, Dalmatia and Dubrovnik. Istria is Croatia’s biggest peninsula and, it is on the very spot where the continent meets the sea and still keeps the best of both worlds. You are not more than 200 kilometers away from the Alps and nonetheless, experience the full prosperity of the mild Mediterranean climate. The Istrian climate makes it possible for you to have your wedding almost all year around. The best months though would be April till October when the weather is stable and mostly sunny. Istria region has beautiful coast with crystal clear water and untouched nature but also Istria's inland parts are the most romantic mixture of cute little towns on hills like Motovun and beautiful and vast vineyards found all around Istrian peninsula. The Istrian cuisine is known for exquisite specialties such as homemade pasta Pljukanci or absolutely fabulous homemade beef carpaccio. Every restaurant is proud to present the original Istrian truffles in their menus combined with other meals, and the region is well known for the best Croatian virgin olive oil and longlasting winemaking tradition. Istria has excellent traffic connections to the rest of Europe. There is an Airport in Pula, the main city on the peninsula and another airport near the city Rijeka which is about 1 and a half hours away from most of the towns in Istria. Another close by airport is the one in Venice, Italy not even a 100 km drive away. The heritage of this region is enormous. The cultural and historical background is just stunning as is its nature. It dates back to the prehistoric era. An interesting fact is the impact of the Roman culture and later on the Italian culture mixed with the Austrian-Hungarian culture and architecture. When talking about wedding locations in Istria, there are so many perfect locations for various tastes and styles – boho, rustic or modern. All of them are possible to achieve through great advice and wedding planning. Not many places can offer such a variety of continental flair and coastal feel as Istria can on such a relatively small space.
How to set priorities on your destination wedding budget in Croatia?
Wedding budget will affect your wedding venue options, menu choice, vendors selection… Without thinking of a budget first, it will be impossible to make any real wedding related choice. Setting the budget is definitely the most important part when you plan a wedding. First things first. Set your priorities. Put down a number you can and want to spend on this special day. Make a list of things you definitely need from 1 being the most important to 10 being less important. If you are inviting people to your wedding and not only having an elopement wedding make sure not to try to save money by being cheap on the food. Do keep in mind that your guests have traveled a long way to be there with you, so this can’t be something you should save money on. To save up some money during the reception it might be a good idea to limit the variety of drinks you want to offer to your guests. This can still be a decent choice of drinks like beer, wine, soft drinks, water, but maybe there shouldn’t be a no-limit spirits bar or you can offer only 2 signature cocktails instead, one to be the bride’s and one the groom’s choice. It si really wonderful idea to get married outdoors by the sea in Croatia, given the fact that nature in Croatia is beautiful. An important thing to bear in mind is that getting married outdoors by a legal officiant in Croatia is connected with higher costs than getting married in the city hall. The price raises on weekends and is lower on weekdays. You can consider getting married on a weekday instead of a weekend, Or you can have a symbolic wedding ceremony at the venue and do the legal part in the city hall instead and save up some money.
Is it possible to have a wedding ceremony in Croatia with valid legal marriage certificate?
Some couples choose to have a simple, symbolic ceremony, while others are interested to have church or civil ceremony. For those who are interested to be legaly married in Croatia and to have civil or church ceremony, we can help with legal requirements and documentation necessary. We are familiar with Croatian bureaucracy and we manage all paperwork before the couple comes to sign the proceedings. Required documents can slightly vary depending on your nationality and place of birth. The most important thing is to have paperwork that is not issued over 90 days before your Croatian wedding date.
How does a typical wedding day look like?
Your wedding day can look whatewer you want it to look, but according to our experiences with organizing weddings in Croatia, there is a certain pattern. 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. time for dressing and styling: Precious moments shared with your bridesmaids and female family members, all of you surrounded with make-up artist and hair stylist, and it’s finally time to put on your wedding dress. When styling is soon to be done, photographer joins you to take some of getting ready photos to make a records of preparations for your special day. Around 5 p.m. it is time for the ceremony. It is the most beautiful and the most touching part of the wedding day. Whether it’s symbolic, civil or religious, wedding ceremony is the central part of the event. 6 p.m. After the ceremony, the couple go on a photo shooting. Wedding planners usually calculate when’s the sunset on your wedding day and arrange photo shooting according to that. 7 p.m. By organizing welcome drink and snacks for your guests while you’re on photo shooting, you’re giving them the opportunity to catch up with family and friends they haven’t seen for a long time. 8 p.m. Time for a grand entrance to the reception venue. The grand entrance is usually accompanied by a champagne toast to newlyweds and after that it is time to eat, drink and have a lot of fun. 8:30 p.m. First dance time. After all of that dance lessions it is once-in-a-lifetime moment to perform the dance ith your soul mate to your favorite song. 9 – 11 p.m. Time for excellent food, toast & speeches . It is what most of the attendees are waiting for. Carefully selected menu accompanied by a glass of fine wine is a guarantee of successful wedding banquet. Between delicous courses, probably somebody from your parents, best man, maid of honor or high school friend will make a toast or have a speech to your new life together. Midnight is usually time for cutting the cake and time when newlyweds share the first slice of gorgeously designed cake . You can spice things up with stunning fireworks. After a dancing set and having the time of your life on dance floor it is a time for bouquet / garther toss. It is a fun wedding tradition most couples decide to include in their wedding program.
