Inspiration

We are not quite sure what to look at first at this Cadhay House wedding, the DIY decor, the cutest page boy ever or the totally in love bride and groom! Well luckily, recommended supplier Jodiedcmitchell Photography captured the day so perfectly we can see them all. It was one big do-it-yourself day with all their friends and family chipping in to help, from the flower arrangements, tipi decor, and even wedding transport complete with tin cans. The tipi hired from World Inspired Tents and garden games added to the relaxed festival feel of the day. A wedding definitely made with love!

DIY wedding decor at Cadhay House

It was a big diy wedding, with lots of friends and family helping to make it possible. This made it so special when we pulled it off! For example, my sister made the cake, my maid of honour did my hair and family friends ran the evening bar. We then had my husband’s band play for the evening, alongside fellow musician friends and the day before the wedding lots of us clubbed together to make decorations for the tipis, arranging flowers that my mum had grown and creating an outdoor bar!

We wanted a relaxed, festival style wedding with an intimate ceremony. Cadhay house provided the perfect atmosphere for the ceremony and then we set up the tipis in my parent’s field to allow for a colourful, festival style reception! Pinterest definitely helped with inspiration, but with my husband playing in a band we knew the music would be an important part and we just wanted everyone to have fun after a difficult year with covid- so the festival style also came from there!

Wedding planning advice from bride and groom

Don’t try and please everyone else when planning your day, make sure it is the wedding you and your fiancée want. Also, delegate jobs! Especially on the day. You don’t want to be thinking about having to sort anything out on the wedding day, so if there are things that need to be done, organise in advance for someone to sort them out. For example, the best man organised everyone for formal photos and made announcements such as food being ready!
