What Made Our Day Unique
We are both from an African/Caribbean background and having an intimate wedding of 18 guests is almost unheard of as our culture is used to having a large wedding so that's definitely one of the things that made our day unique. We wanted our wedding to be personal on every level and that includes our suppliers. Our suppliers were a mixture of friends and ones that resonates with us as a couple. They all worked so well together and we couldn't be more pleased.
Inspiration & Styling
We love to entertain so we wanted our wedding to have a stylish dinner party vibe with lots of candles and amazing floristry - we chose our flowers based on the season so they were autumnal. We wanted our guest to feels like they are in our home and I believe we definitely achieved that because some didn't want to leave :). Saying our vows to each other was one of my favourite moments. I still cry thinking about it. Also instead of throwing a bouquet, I gave the unmarried ladies each a rose instead. Willis' most memorable moment was waking up early that morning and spending most of it writing my vows. We also enjoyed the toast and speeches. It made us realise how blessed we are to have friends and family like ours.
Photographer
We had the INCREDIBLE Rebecca Carpenter Photography. We first saw Rebecca's work on Instagram. We started following her long before we got engaged and we said when we do get married, she would be the one. I kept in touch with her by referring her friends and the occasional gushing over her work! Then when we got engaged, we reached out to her. The funny thing is, she wasn’t free on our original wedding date so WE MOVED OUR WEDDING DATE to when she was next free!....yes we actually did that and would do it all over again. We got the opportunity to work with her in Venice, Italy for our engagement shoot which was lovely because it was a nice warm-up before our big day.
