Inspiration

Friday fact for you: Six out of ten people wear glasses, yet we rarely see our brides or grooms donning their spectacles on their big day, so this 'geek chic' inspiration from Rose & Dandy and Lola Rose Photography is most definitely a welcome sight. If you pardon the pun! The beautiful bride looks über cool in vintage inspired gowns, (the high neck and polka dot tulle number is making me weak at the knees), and the Fifth and Spring socks worn with blue suede block heels looks both stylish and comfy. The location for all this immense style was the gorgeous Swiss Garden Fernery & Grotto at Shuttleworth, which was filled with pampas grass, hydrangeas and gerbera floral arrangements, and coloured goblets, taper candles and platter tablescape. All of which will definitely get your pinning fingers twitching. Enjoy.

Concept

Ellie, Rose & Dandy: I’ve always been a big fan of the anti-trend trend! Geek chic is a great hybrid, when the uber talented Lola Rose Photography and I were talking through title options she suggested it and I realised that was exactly what the shoot was! We channelled this through our colour pallet, lavender, peach and black.

Flowers

Our florist Me and My Bloomers used anti-trend Gerberas, peach carnations and hydrangeas mixed with beautiful boho grasses. We used meadow formations with a grass cloud above to frame our table set up.

Fashion

Joanna from Woburn Bridal chose 2 stunning dresses from Muscat Bridal. There was a slight nod to 90s styles to suit our look- the Ellie Dress, a polka dot tulle with gorgeous flounce over a peach silk slip and the other Bella Dress a simple adorned bias cut slip. We teamed these with deliciously beige embellished ankle socks by Fifth and Spring, lilac block heels and specs.

Beauty

Ali Kynoch used pink tones for her makeup, adding a pink lip for the second look and Kate Lodge put two perfectly thought out dos together for Ellens hair, a half up half down and a fluffy top knot. Ellen, our models look was so spot on, slightly 90s grunge but a total natural beauty. I loved her braces too!

Patisserie

I asked Gourmandisies to make a lilac tart, she is an amazing patisserie chef and always leaves her tarts to be eaten afterwards!

Stationery

Folly and Ganders stationery complemented the modern table set up of our shoot, she used our colour pallet with a simple modern font to finish.

Venue

We shot at Shuttleworth Swiss Gardens in their amazing Grotto, Fernery and surrounding gardens. It’s a totally magical venue filled with the unexpected. Their resident peacock made an appearance too.
