Inspiration

Despite this Isle of Wight wedding being small, there was so much love and input from family and friends to make it special. Aimee's sister helped her choose her minimalist wedding dress and lace edge veil as well as decorate the venue. And everyone joined in for the open mic wedding speeches during the candlelit reception. It was simple and elegant, with a lot of heart. Recommended photographer Jason Mark Harris was on hand to capture all the magic as it unfolded and was like another guest at their wedding rather than a supplier.

Intimate Isle of Wight wedding with candlelit reception and open mic speeches.

After a couple of postponements, we decided to go ahead with a stripped back micro wedding. We have been together since we were 15 and 17 and didn't want to wait any longer! We chose our very closest friends, and our immediate family, including our adored 3 nieces and 2 nephews. This day was all about celebrating having our most precious people in one place, after a tough few years for everyone. Both of us wanted it to be relaxed, and we wanted to spoil all our guests with a lovely stay on the Isle of Wight where we live.

Isle of Wight Wedding

My wife and I wanted our Isle of Wight wedding to be simple and elegant, with beautiful colours, we did not want to be bound by traditions. We toasted with Aperol Spritz (Aimee's favourite cocktail!) Giving our suppliers a rough brief and allowing them to create things with their own style. This was important to us. We couldn't have all the people we loved at our wedding, so we wanted friends/suppliers to have their input, so we could feel the love of others in our day. We asked our friends and siblings to chose readings and music for the ceremony etc.

Open Mic

Rather than traditional speeches/toasts, we invited our guests to speak if they wished 'open mic' style (we gave everyone a few days notice). Aimee's bro-in-law MC'd this and it was so special. Some were written, some were spontaneous, but all were incredibly memorable and it filled our whole evening with love. The speeches were spread out throughout our meal and almost all the adults offered their advice and well-wishes to us and shared memories. The room was bursting with tears, laughter and big love. Having a small wedding meant we spent the whole day with everyone!

Joe and Aimee started their morning with a run and cycle around the island. A time of peace, fun and smiles.

If this pandemic has taught us anything as a couple, it has been that you just never know what is going to happen. It makes you realise what is really important to you. Our day was about 2 people and was filled with all the things we love. Nothing else matters. Do it your way! Aimee had a Man of Honour, we chose food and drink that we loved, we also got to know the hotel staff really well before the day, so at the wedding, we were relaxed and comfortable with everyone and everything.

It seems Recommended photographer Jason Mark Harris is the go-to choice for your Isle of Wight wedding. Not only capturing Aimee and Joe's intimate day, but also Sarah and Kit's English country garden wedding, and Annika and Richard's marquee wedding at home. But, don't worry Jason also covers weddings in the U.K too. Mia and Tristan's woodland wedding is a beautiful example.
