Budget Wedding at Manor House Lindley

Photography by Jenn Garlick Photography

Hannah & Ben were married at the beautiful Manor House Lindley in Yorkshire. Having originally planned a day for 120 people, their plans were thwarted due to the pandemic. Working to a tight budget, this couple threw themselves into a little DIY wedding planning (you know we love this). Enlisting the help of their talented friends, Hannah’s sister created their wedding stationery, and Hannah herself took a calligraphy course in order to create the signage and table decor! The stepladder table plan was created by Ben, who up-cycled old furniture to become wedding features. We really do love some Do It Yourself… we also love that it's perfectly captured by recommended supplier Jenn Garlick Photography.

Manor House is such a unique venue. It combines many different vibes in a small space – but it does it really well! As soon as you step through the front door, you could easily be in a city centric venue.

VENUE

Everything had been designed to a high specification. The venue oozes a modern sophistication with quirky, art-deco themed highlights throughout. Florals and botanicals were a huge part of the day. The grounds have beautiful gardens and flower arches that make for beautiful photographs. Along with the furniture and lighting, that again, enforce this urban and chic style.

ADVICE

Don’t fall down the rabbit hole of planning! Know exactly what you want, and stick at it. Our barn wedding was supposed to be a DIY ‘budget’ wedding, but we ended up tripling our budget and it was likely that we were hardly going to see each other all day. It felt like a huge performance we were putting on for everyone else’s benefit. Don’t dismiss small, intimate weddings. They are so much less stressful, you get a lot more freedom to really enjoy your day and they are a lot more cost effective.

Our favourite moment was when we were having our meal, looking out at our guests smiling, laughing and loving for the first time that year. The warm feeling of togetherness through being with the most important people in our lives is something we will never take for granted again.
