The Inspiration
Amy the Photographer: With this bridal inspiration shoot Laura Holden of
Holden Bespoke and I teamed up with a talented group of suppliers to create a bridal look with a modern feel and bright, bold colours—a look perfect for a young couple or anyone wishing for a fun, vibrant and laid back wedding day.
The colour palette of the shoot was inspired by the intricately beaded gown from the newest
Needle + Thread bridal collection. The blush tones in the gown were brought out using neon pops of pink and bright florals and paired with the greens and blues in the effortlessly stylish central London venue,
No. 11 Pimlico Road. Set in one of central London’s coolest neighbourhoods — this beautiful venue provided the perfect mix of chic London with a touch of geometric patterning and mid century modern style throughout.
The Couple
Although the “Bride” and “Groom” hadn’t met each other prior to the shoot, I worked hard to capture natural imagery of them together by doing what I normally do with all of my couples -- leading the “couple” into scenarios that involved real interactions which result in authentic emotion and connection. I kept the interactions playful, fun, romantic and relaxed to go along with the theme of the shoot and I photographed using a combination of medium format film and digital to get the best of both worlds.
The Fashion
The gorgeous ‘Eleonora’ and ‘Victoria’ shoes from
Emmy London were selected for their modern, feminine detail and the incredible beaded craftsmanship. For the groomswear,
Hugh Harris provided a French Navy Blue Carlton Lounge suit that extended the modern and effortless style through to the groom’s look.
The Flowers
The beautiful florals looked straight out of a fashion campaign and were created by the talented Charley at
The London Flower House using a combination of whimsical reds, pinks, yellows and oranges. Charley and Laura also created an incredibly fun and easy-to-make wall display using flowers and neon pink washi tape—simply taping the flowers to the wall to create a relaxed and imprecise yet balanced pattern. This would be perfect as a backdrop for couple’s portraits or alternatively to set the stage when exchanging vows at the altar. To add to the playful feel of the shoot, the bright tablescape was topped with fantastic flamingo plates from
Classic Crockery. Elegant yet fun and simplistic stationary was created by
Sailor & Scout. The lovely invitation suite tied in the pink colour palette, using a pop of neon offset with a timeless and sophisticated silver calligraphy.
The Beauty
Kasia Fortuna kept the hair styling simple with a hint of glamour creating two looks. The first a soft, natural and relaxed look that allowed the hair to fall freely and the second a romantic, loose, side parted updo—both romantic and effortlessly gorgeous!
Ausra Ruksene also created two corresponding makeup looks. The first look was soft, natural and glowy using pinks and earth tones while the second amped up the glamor creating slightly more dramatic eye paired with a bright lip for a pop of colour. Hair accessories by
Kelly Spence were the perfect fit for this fun, modern shoot and tie in so beautifully with the delicate beading on the dress.
The Cake
The amazing cake created by
Sugared Saffron extended the fun theme throughout four tiers using geometric patterns with hexagonal fondant detailing, a bright marbled layer and a whimsical handcrafted fondant magnolia flower.
It was great to work with such an amazing team and every detail was created with such care and attention!
