It's officially December, which means it's officially fairy light season, and The Normans in Yorkshire has one of the most impressive fairy light backdrops we've ever seen! Such a lovely spot for Laura and James to say I do, and an equally lovely spot for lots of amazing couples portraits after. Plus, there's pretty botanical on the day wedding signs, green and white flowers and a fabulous balloon covered ceiling!

What Made Your Day Unique

We kept our day very true to us as a couple. We wanted the day to be relaxed and fun, for us and our guests. Yes, there were some traditional elements, but we feel like we did our wedding day our own way! We opened the bar before the ceremony, we made charity donations for our wedding favours, we swapped wedding cake for pizza, we had both Father of the Bride and Father of the Groom give speeches, we had our confetti shower during the first dance...

The Normans

The Normans is an absolutely stunning wedding venue in its own right, especially with its impressive ceremony room draped in fairy lights, that, mixed with the help, care and attention to detail the staff offer their couples during their wedding planning process and on the day is second to none. So much so Laura and James say "We honestly couldn't have asked for anything more! No email or call was too much, and no visit was turned down. Every request was accommodated without hesitation, even last-minute ones. We're certain we wouldn't have had the same wedding experience anywhere else." If you want a wedding venue or supplier to go the extra mile like The Normans, search our handpicked directory now, where you'll find The Normans, and many other fantastic suppliers featured.

Inspiration

We wanted a simple barn typesetting and our wedding to be casual and fun. The venue itself helped to inspire a theme in more detail though. We loved The Normans straight away - a simply stunning venue. We knew we could do as much or as little to it as we liked, and it would still work. We let the rustic feel to carry through and mixed this with lots of green foliage. Ivy was already a strong feature of the venue courtyard. We kept the colours to a minimum - dark green, adding a copper finish here and there, white/grey blending it all in.

Wedding planning can be a little daunting at times, but between our real weddings, directory, podcast, book and helpful articles we can make that journey a little more fun and a lot less stressful.
