Windy Tunnels Beaches Wedding in Devon with Willow by Watters Wedding Dress

Photography by Hayley Savage Photography
Even gale forced winds couldn't stop Maddie and Nick from having the time of their lives at their Tunnels Beaches wedding in Devon. The unexpected gusts of wind sweeping Maddie's veil into the air made for some amazing, fun portraits by Hayley Savage Photography, with the couples smile and happiness radiating from every moment captured. Can we all just take a moment to appreciate her braided updo too? Not a hair out of place, even with all that wind!

What Made Your Day Unique

The venue and location! Beautiful setting and amazing views. we fell in love with Tunnels Beaches because of its cool, relaxed vibe and amazing setting. We actually found it and first saw it on the RMW blog! Our approach to our wedding was kind of a no-fuss, keep it chilled approach. We knew we didn't want things like a sweet cart or big love signs. Just a good setting, nice food, all our amazing friends and family and then a bloody good party at the end!

Tunnels Beaches Wedding

When a couple loves being at one with nature there's nothing more fitting than a botanical filled wedding by the coast. A Tunnels Beaches wedding to be precise, which is a uniquely designed wedding venue in Devon nestle into cliffs and featuring its own private beach. Maddie and Nick filled the outdoor ceremony and reception with lots of palm leaves and fern intertwined with wildflowers and culminated their day by letting off coloured smoke bombs with their wedding party by the shore.

Inspiration & Styling

Nick and I both love being outside, love nature and plants etc so I went with a loosely botanical theme. Lots of greenery in our bouquets and flowers on tables etc. Palm leaves and fern on the flower arch, lots of fern in our bouquets and a little leaf on each place setting. We just wanted it to be super relaxed, with wild/botanical flowers. We didn't go mad with many other decorations as we didn't feel the venue really needed it. I did get some huge round white balloons and had them next to the top table with leaves hanging down to hide the string (I loved these!).

Even though a storm threatened and there were gale force winds, Maddie and Nick still got married outside because that was so important to them. There were times during the ceremony they couldn't even hear each other. They said it was such a surreal funny moment, and one they will never forget. We love that they made light of the situation and still found joy in their day. For more coastal weddings or Tunnels Beaches wedding's with less wind, search our real wedding archives.
